I purchased 4 of these and all 4 will run UBUNTU fine but wont install windows 7

I had the same problem with my Y510. I downloaded the BIOS update from Lenovo, and after I updated it, the DVD drive displayed.

We had the same exact problem but with a Compaq Pesario V6000 series notebook. Ours had to do with the NVidia System Management Controller but was listed in the device manager as a coprocessor. Kind of a bland description.
Solution: Downloaded and installed NVidia System Management Controller from here. Hope this helps.
