SOURCE: ERROR CODE "TE"
I had the tE error code on my dishwasher LDF7811ST and noticed that with the door half open the error would not appear. I faked the door being closed (pushed in the top latch (can be unlocked by pulling out with a paperclip after the test) after which the washer worked fine: suspected the wiring harness. Removed the stainless steel front and discovered quickly that 1 wire was cut (might have made contact with the door half open), 2 wires to the point where the insulation was gone and the bare conductor exposed (!)and 2 more were about to to be cut completely! I soldered and shrink wrapped the wires and the problem was gone. Made some pictures for evidence and plan to contact LG as this is a fire hazard!

TE error code means Thermistor Fault or Inlet Water Temp too High.
Check the resistance of the thermistor (located on the bottom of the unit in between 2 orange wires with single spade connectors which is the heating element) and it was good 11.7K ohms at 71 degrees room temp. Take the front door off and trace wiring. There is a white plastic wire loom and approx.6" up check the wiring being melted in the black mastic. The thermistor wiring is red and dark blue.
Generally, some lose or broken wires cause this. Keep us updated.

Tips for a great answer:
The heater circuit has failed if "HE" is displayed. Discontinue use and contact a service technician. The dishwasher requires servicing.
"TE" means the thermistor has failed or the temperature of the water entering the dishwasher is over 194 degrees Fahrenheit. Turn the temperature down on the hot water heater in the home. If the error code reappears, replace the thermistor.
By the sound of this your heating system is malfunctioning and needs service.
If you need more on this let me know, but it is either your temperature sensor or your heating element or control board.
