Question about Microwave Ovens

When started, microwave will run for 4 sec. then stop, displaying F-9
While in operation for this brief time the microwave makes a low
''sparking/clicking'' sound. There is no visible sparking, it is the type of sound I am describing not a visual effect. All controls and lights function as they should.
I have looked behind the grill at the top of the microwave for the usually included service sheet and it is not there. Is it located somewhere else in this model? What is the problem? Control board? Magnetron? Something else? Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
My guess is that it is the main transformer that has developed a fault. If the insulation has broken down - it will arc there instead of the magnatron. Or it could be the magnatron itself. Both are prime suspects - and expensive to replace.
Unless you are particularly attatched to this - I would buy a new unit - and sell the turntable plate to recoup your losses.

F9 problem started for me yesterday. Is intermittent. I'm seeing MANY others with similar issue. I purchased Kenmore Elite Oven, Microwave/Hood, Refrigerator and Dishwasher; I've had issues with all of them. Plastic soap container melted on Dishwasher, I've had to replace the ice-cube maker on the Refrigerator, light on the Oven would not shut off and now doesn't work at all, and now F9 error on the microwave. Service calls have been frustrating, and yes, I've paid for all the repairs. Best advice: STAY AWAY FROM ANY, ALL KENMORE APPLIANCES. I even told them on the phone that with good service I will promote their product -- they simply DID NOT CARE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LACK OF LOYALTY OR SERVICE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. My parents had very good service with Sears; obviously they have lost their way. STAY AWAY.
