My campbell and housfield 60 gal wont run.. help

I bought her from a guy used and said it worked great. she is a single phase elect. 5 hp. 60 gal. i brought her home on her side all the oil ran out so i filled it up with oil, ran a 10 amp service to it and turned it on it started and ran for a minute but sounded funny like it would start the motor then stop over and over and over agianfor split seconds then stopped and never made another sound. there was no air in the system and i can hand turn the belt (seems right) . note: there was damage to one of the covers over the (compasator???) on the top of the motor no visable damage to the black tube like compasator looking thing, that im tring to figure out what it is? please help make her run!!!!!!

10 AMP CIRCUIT SOUNDS WEAK. WIRE MAY BE TOO SMALL. ARE YOU SURE ITS NOT WIRED FOR 220 VOLTS AND YOUR RUNNING IT ON 110. START CAPACITOR COULD BE BAD BUT TYPICALLY WOULD LEAK OIL-LIKE FLUID IF IT WAS DAMAGED. CUTTING OFF AND ON CONTINOUSLY COULD BE THE PRESSURE SWITCH IS DAMAGED. SOUNDS MORE LIKE WRONG VOLTAGE. THERE ISNT A LOW OIL PROTECTION DEVICE.?

I have a Ingersoll Rand Compressor model# 2545E10V 10 HP,3 phase and I would like to convert it to a signle phase. would this motor here be good to go with and what other items will be needed to complete...

It might. Mounting holes match? Shaft diameter and adapter match? Power supply sufficient for 5HP motor? It's a big motor! You might get a better answer from the ebay supplier.

Sometimes IR 30 goes into a strained free wheeling state

Did you change the 3 phase motor out with a single phase motor? A 3 phase motor cannot be made to run on single phase.

I have a brand new IR compressor model 2475N7.5 with a 7.5 hp 460v 3 ph motor. is it possible to convert it to a single phase power supply? or should i just exchange it? ... I ordered it thru Northern Tool...

When you google home made 3 phase converters, you will find many ways to make use of 220v single phase instead, however you are limited as to the hp that the motor will produce. If you spin the motor first then apply 220v, the motor will continue to turn at much reduced hp. You need full power to turn a type 30 pump depending on pulley combination/ setup. Best to return the unit and get one that will run on 220v single phase. It will most likely consume more power to do the same work however it would cost a great deal to install 3 phase. Most likely not even available at all. Many years ago, I worked at Sears and happened to see an electrician coming down from roof access of building. He told me that sears had a 3 phase generator being turned by a 220v single phase motor to run an air conditioning unit. He said that it worked quite well. Does not sound cost effective.

I had a 242-5D on a 120 horizontal driven by a 5 hp Dayton motor. I changed to a 2475N7.5 on a 80 gal vertical with a bad motor. I want to reuse the Dayton 5 hp motor. What can I expect?

Im not sure if iv;e got this straightYou had a 242running on 120 v driven by 5 hp dayton motor You have a new 80 gal tank with a bad 7.5 v motor and want to put the 5 v motor on it What was the size of the old tank if it was 60 or more you should be ok the 5 hp will have to work harder as long as you can make it fit you may want to consider droping down the blow out valve presssre spec 10 to 15 lbs depending on the size of the old tank

AIR PRESSURE PROBLEM

The issue suggests that the head gasket is blown between the two cylinders or the reed valves are not seating or broken. The only other condition that would cause this is a leak. Here are a couple of simple tests. For leak spray soapy water on all connections and fittngs including the pressure regulator and the bottom of the pressure switch while unit is running. Repair as needed. If no leak is found, run compressor untill it reaches 60 or stops increasing and feel for suction at the air filter intake. The best way to check for suction is to remove the air filter and feel for suction at intake port-hole. The suction should be very strong. When valves are leaking it almost feels that the air is blowing out thru intake. If little or no suction, remove head and valveplate and replace parts as needed. Parts are available at www.chpower.com or www.toolpartsdirect.com. Good luck and post again if you have other question.

Have a husky 19 gal 1.5hp it kicks on when first start to work and when it builds up air and i use it and when it wants to kick back on it wont i have to wait till it cools down.

Is there an option for you to run this compressor on 220 volts vs 110 volts??? If so, you may want to convert it by following the re-wire instructions on the motor or wire access plate/instuction book. The reason your compressor won't fire up again after building pressure is the head pressure is to great at restart and 110 household current is not enough to give the power needed to turn the piston. You'll need to replace the plug and have someone run a 220 volt circuit once the conversion is completed.
