I have a compaq laptop that won't turn on. When you plug it in the charging light just flashes and nothing happens. If you hit the power button it does the same thing, just flashes and nothing happens. I thought it was the ac adapter cord, but I just got a new one and it does the same thing. Do you think its the battery? The connection for the ac adapter on the laptop isn't loose so I don't think its that.

Take out the battery completely and only hook up the adaptor and see if it turns on then. If it turns on then your battery is bad. If you try both adaptors and get the same flashing lights then the motherboard is bad.
My Laptop wil not come on at all, no light no thing. I got a new AC adaptor thinking it was bad. pluged it in and nothing the PC is dead. What is going on?

My c300 faults began when it just turned off out of the blue. It became more and more regular and the time it was on decreased bit by bit. when it turns off the power and 'on' lights flash very quickly. Now it does not turn on at all.
It will not turn on without the battery either, so would this be the motherboard? thanks.
however, i have just noticed that the power chord has a resistor (or somthing) that beeps. Could it be that somthing has gone wrong to fry the chord and my battery?
