Re:"I have hooked up the printer to my computer but keep getting the message that the computer is having trouble locating the hardware."

That means that printer software had not been installed correctly, or that the usb cable is bad.

If this is a network printer, you will need to re-configure the printer on the network following instructions on user manual.

You need to reinstall the software from printer disk first, this to ensure that the computer is using the right driver.
Unplug printer USB cable before starting driver setup.
If you do not have drivers, download from.

HP Support & Drivers

If it still does not work after installing the drivers check usb cable.

If it is a network printer instead, do again configuration.

If still no luck then the printer may be faulty.

If you have an installation disk that came with this printer, you will need to install this before it will be operational.

Hello. When you want to connect any peripheral device to USB, always check manufacturer's documentation. There should be written what's the first: connecting the device or installing the driver. Now do what you need to do. Un-install the driver/software. Disconnect the device restart the computer and check manufacturer's documentation for next step. Good luck

My grandmother recently had her computer repaired and when she got her computer back the printer was not printing. It keeps telling her that there is new hardware, but the printer was installed before it...

I asume the printer is connected wth an USB cable. If you disconnect a USB cable and plug it in, in a different USB port, it will tell you new hardware found. The best way is, reinstall the printer software or let the computer find the new hardeware (Printer)

Now how do you hook up the printer

Hello there:
First what you will have to do is to install the cd rom and install the drivers and then it will tell you when to hook up the cable to the printer and it will show you the location where it needs to hook up then simply hook up a printer cable that should have came with the printer or if you do not have it you can get from any computer store or even walmart and it just simply connects to the computer on the back or if it is a usb type you can hook it up to any usb there as well and on the other end hooks to the printer port ok then it will recognize the printer and finish installing the hardware for you then you will have to restart the computer and you will be done ok?
I hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards Michael

Can not install printer software for the lexmark z11 printer.

Did you follow the instructions? I believe you cannot hook up printer to computer until the software ask you to. If you have done all this and it still don't work go to control panel and click on add new hardware a window should pop up saying add hardware wizard just follow instructions. When it gets to the point of saying do you want windows to search or if you want to find the driver click on you want to find Then you can tell the computer where the driver is located by picking the drive where it is located and it should find it then and load drivers.

Trouble with installing software for PCI FLASH Memory Dell All-in-one

Put the cd in the computer, and see if there is a setup.exe file, or something of the sort on the CD itself.

Also, you can download the drivers from dells website. Your install cd may be bad. Your computer may also need to be updated, sometimes you need to log into http://www.update.microsoft.com/
and there may be drivers for it there on the bottom of a custom update.

If you tell the wizard to find the drivers automatically, it sometimes only looks for it on the hard drive of your pc. Tell it to install the drivers from a specific location, then select "from a removable medium". You can also try installing it from a specific location, click browse, and try to find the location of the drivers on the Dell installation cd.

Installation

Could be your USB drivers for the actual port itself is giving you troubles. What you can do is this. Unplug the printer! Go to Device Manager(Right-click on my computer then click Properties, click on Hardware Tab then press Device manager Button) Look under Universal Serial Bus Controller. Is there a device with a yellow exclamation? if there is, right click on it and uninstall. Go to the top of the list the right click on your computer name and click on Scan for hardware changes! If it finds new hardware and prompts for drivers,(If asks to check online, select no, not at this time) select Install from specific location, then click next, Select the top one(Search these specific locations, and uncheck everything else)!! Next. It should go all the way through, if you get a propmt about unsigned driver click continue anyway! If it goes through try connecting your printer if not it will end in with an error, get back to me with the exact error!! Also your pc might require chipset drivers!! Get back to me with your computer specs if the above doesn't help! regards, babb
