Question about Maytag Neptune FAV6800AW Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Washer not finishing it's rinse/spin cycle

I just had my Neptune Washer FAV6800AAW repaired because it was not draining nor completing its final spin cycle. ( appx. 9 mins remaining). After replacing the pulley clutch assembly everything was better until I went to wash my king size bed mattress cover. It repeated the same problem as before. I can wash the lighter loads but the heavy load, one wet cotton mattress cover, will not completly cycle. What now?

What a shame that this name brand appliance has no fix. I will never buy another Maytag or Whirlpool product again. Has anyone had any success?

Water continues to run while machine moves through wash cycles from Maytag FAV6800AWW washer. Is it a sensor problem or water valve problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Post for Guest on Feb 16, 2009…. It would be better to open up a new problem on your FAV6800A machine with the water fill issue. We will need to troubleshoot the issue and not comingle this issue with this post. In the mean time try this for initial troubleshooting steps for your issue. From your description the H/C valves are not stuck open because water only flows during the wash cycle is that correct? If that is correct there may be an issue with pressure switch not signaling the control board water fill level has been reached. Do you have the Service Manual for the FAV6800A? If not you can grab it from this site, go to Tips & Tricks and download then go to page 16. Become familiar with getting into service mode real easy to do. We want to test High Water level /Medium Water Level sensing and feedback to the control board. For reference doing the test on page 16 for my FAV6800AWW low water fill = 3.75” of water in wash basket for medium fill (display reads -1) and 7.0” for high water fill (display reads ~1) ~ = upper level dash mark.

Run any load - large or the least bit bulky (like sheets) on the "BULKY" cycle. It takes longer, but the machine completes the wash. This shouldn't be the way it works. I love the Neptune TL for its retro look and lack of Maytag's classic big cranky knob. Too bad it runs like ****.

Maytag neptune stops in mid cycle

It sounds like your drain pump is going. Neptunes are suppose to neqarly dry the clothes with how fast it spins. A poor drain pump/motor, could cause this to be less effective. There could also be something in the drain lines. I would check that before you pay money on a pump though.

Clothes are too wet after spin cycle This may be a spin problem or a drain problem
Drain:
  • Make sure the drain line is clear
  • Check the drain hose for a partial blockage
  • Inspect the water pump
Spin:
  • Test the lid switch
  • Test the timer control
  • Test the centrifugal switch

Neptune won't advance from Rinse to SPIN

If the clutch fails the first thing noticed is a UC or DC error displayed and there is no drain or spin.

If you are seeing the above error and having a problem with spin and drain then the most likely cause of this is the clutch. The clutch fails to lock down the spinners and the basket is unable to go into spin and without a 90 RPM there is no drain.

Replace the clutch.

Wont complete final spin and drain

Ok you need another repair man this is a simple timer problem since you said dial I take it as timer machine if so it has a dead spot in that cycle. although if it is a electronic control replace the control board and this will be the cure good luck and Merry Christmas
