Question about Seagate 80GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive (9W2681540)
I have a seagate 80 gb external hardrive. I use it to back up my laptop that only has 40 gbs. i have been doing this a few years but now there isn't any more space on the seagate. I first though it was doubling everything up on the external harddrive after every backup, but after running double killer and only removing a few gigs I realized what the problem was. It was adding all new data, so anything that I deleted from the past was still on the external. I want to know how I can just remove everything from the external and start fresh, with what is just currently on my machine. I am afraid if I just start deleting everythign off the external I will delete some critical files or drivers and formatting that would be out of my knowledge to repair. I am using baounceback express as my backup software, the one that came wih the harddrive.
Hi schwaggysubl,
As I can see you have two options; one is delete some unwanted data that is on a hidden part of the hard drive....this is all the data you have been deliting all this years(which means you dont need it)--------if you want to do this plz let me know via email and i will be more than happy to help you(email because its what I check more often)..... and if you defenitly decide to erase everything you must do the following:
1 go to my computer
2 right click your external hard drive
3 click on format.
4 type how you want to name your external hd on Volume label
5 make sure quick format is not checked
6 and then start.... you done

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!
