Vista has identified your printer. It loads up its default printer driver (stored in vista OS) in your new computer. This usually have the basic features only. You need to run again the CD to install or enable the added features of your said printer. If you have lost the CD you can do an alternate option by downloading the software on this link. ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/united-states/pse/hppse126.96.36.199enu.exe
For the the CD that was crumbled inside your cd-rom. You can try to pull out the CD from the Tower casing and try yo maually open the CD rom unit itself. Or may i suggest that you can buy a new one. (CD/DVD roms are cheaper now a days)
The causes of CD crashing inside your CD rom;
1. wrong placement of CD/DVD disc 2. Hardware failure of the CD/DVD roms
Drivers, Software, lost C.D....come this way!
If you have lost you cd or don't know how to install your printer then all you
need to do is download the drivers and software from the manufactures website
that suits your operating system and printer.
Drivers and software download areas for brands listed below, just click to gain
access and then locate driver for your needs.
Here is the link to the drivers and software:
You didn't specify which OS you have so after you connect to this site select you Operating System (OS) and then download the driver/s listed. They only listed X7500 and X7550. If this is not correct you simply need to search the site for a X75.
I suggest you save the drivers in a folder you will create first then open the file.
1.) make a folder named Lexmark X7500 on your desktop.
2.) Then download the file to it.
3.) Then open the folder and open the file.
4.) Follow the instructions it creates.
You may need to buy the cd from Lexmark but as long as you have the drivers and any software they provide you should be OK.
