I had the same problem before. I went to a site and it downloaded itself. The stuff that it tells you is absolutely fake! XP Police Antivirus is a trojan and will screw up your computer. To stop its processes and popups temporarily, go to Task Manager by pressing CTRL ALT DEL. Find the Program or Application that says XP Police in it. Then press, End Task. Youp PC should run better now. Now, on to te next step. It is not very easy to remove if you are an absolute computer noob, like me. You have to go download Malware bytes. It's the only easy way to delete it. Run a scan on your computer and it will find EVERY virus. After it is done scanning, it will give you a list of your viruses that you can delete. Click the Remove Viruses button. Then, you should be done. If it asks to reboot your computer, do so. Then, XP Police Antivirus should be done.

Here's a safe website to download Malware bytes from. This is the latest version.

Want to remove ask toolbar

It would be helpful to know your browser, but here goes...
1) Open the control panel and go to uninstall a program (or Add Remove Programs). Find Ask Tool Bar AND Ask Toolbar updater and uninstall them. While in the uninstall section, look for any mention of ASK among the publishers. You may have to uninstall any such you find, particularly if these two uninstalls do not fix the problem.
2) As the browser you are using has installed extensions and changed the home page, you have to get rid of the extension and change the home page. In IE, click the gear icon or select Tools from the menu (XP). Pick Toolbars and extensions. Go to Manage Add-ins. Disable those associated with Ask individually by right clicking on them and chosing disable. In Chrome, you would be going to Tools and Extensions, similarly. You have to change the default search engine back to Google by going into Settings in Chrome. In Firefox, you click on Tools and select Add-ons, get Add-ons, and select SearchReset from the list and install it.
3) Run an adaware clearner to remove any residual registry settings. Pick one from a site you have confidence in.

My internet explor has blocked pages from certain wesites how do i fix?

Depending on the way that the Internet Explorer Web browser's "Security" settings are configured, the browser may be blocking your access from certain pages.

The browser itself (based on information from Microsoft) may have deemed these pages insecure and dangerous, or you may have accidentally blocked the page yourself.

You can stop Internet Explorer from blocking websites by going through the program's "Security" settings page.

Open Internet Explorer.

Click "Tools."

Click "Internet Options."

Click "Security."

Click on the "Restricted Sites" icon and then the "Sites" button.

Click on the name of the website that you do not want blocked anymore, from the list of restricted sites.

Click "Remove." Click "OK" to save your changes and Internet Explorer will no longer be blocking that specific website.

Hope this helps

When playing games in facebook I cannot send and recieve gifts and keep getting things blocked, why does this always pop up at top of games ?

You need to adjust your pop up blocker to allow pop ups for Facebook. Typically IE8 gives you a message at the top of the screen when a pop up is blocked with the option to allow pop ups from this site either for this one session or forever. if you do not see this you can adjust your settings by clicking "Tools->Pop up blocker->Pop up blocker settings."
You may also need to adjust the security settings for Facebook from "Tools->Internet Options->Privacy." Make sure you adjust privacy settings for facebook only!!

I am using Internet Explorer 8 and just recently, Windows Installer pops up only on random web pages that I open. I just click cancel and it finally goes away. I have Windows XP. Any suggestions?

You are getting this popup because of old or out-dated Windows installer program in your PC.

There are 2 solutions to get rid of this issue.

Solution 1

1. Click "Start" and click Run
In the Small window type "msiexec /unregister" ( without quotes ), then press "Enter" or Press OK. You will not see anything happen during this process.

Again

2. Click "Start" and click Run
In the Small window type "msiexec /regserver" (Without Quotes) then press "Enter" or Press OK button. You will not see anything happen during this process.

And then,

2. Click "Start" and click Run
In the Small window type "Services.msc" ( without Quotes ) and hit Enter key or Press OK.
Search for Windows Installer in the list. Double click and open the Windows Installer and under Start Type " Select Automatic " and click Apply and Click OK. Close the window

Now you can try to access Internet Explorer. If you still get the pop up message, You will have to Download and install the latest Windows Installer program from Microsoft Website

Windows Installer Download

Choose WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe - 3.2MB from the list to download and then install.
When you click on download button, It will prompt you to save or Run. Click Run.

Install and later restart the PC.

Ron

How do I change my pop up settings?

Given below are steps to pop up settings: Step 1 If you are in Microsoft Windows explorer and wish to disable your Pop-Up Blocker, then you will need to click on Tools at the top of the screen, scroll down and click on Pop-Up Blocker and then click to Turn off Pop-Up Blocker.
  • Step 2 In Mozilla or FireFox, the Pop-Up Blocker is within the browser. First you will need to go to your Tools menu and click on Options. From there, click on Web Features and then remove the check from the block that says "Block Popup Windows". Once you have done that and click OK, then you should be ready to view your site with Pop-Ups enabled.
  • Step 3 In the Safari Browser you can change your Pop-Up settings by going to the menu and selecting the Preferences options. Once you have done this, you can then select the Security options. Remove the check-mark from Block Pop-Up Windows and you are done.
  • Step 4 In Netscape you will access your Pop-Up Blocker from the Edit menu. Select Edit, then select Preferences. Next, click beside the Privacy and Security option and you will then see the Pop-Up Windows option.
You can then change the settings as you would like.
  • Step 5 The Google Toolbar also has an icon across the top showing pop-ups that have been blocked. If you are unsure which icon to click on, hover over them first and your browser will reveal what the icon is for without you having to click on it. Clicking on the pop-up icon does allow you to change this setting in the google toolbar.
  • Step 6 jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep6 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a04/rt/4a/change-pop-up-blocker-settings-1.6-800X800.jpg'); }); The Yahoomag-glass_10x10.gif Tool bar will show an icon that needs to be clicked on from the Tool Bar as well. This Icon will look like the one to the side. Click on this icon and you will be able to uncheck the " Enable Pop-Up Blocker" verbiage.
  • Step 7 If you are using AOL, then the tool bar will show the word "Blocked" on it. This is in regards to the pop-ups and will showcase the total number of pop-ups blocked thus far. To change this setting to allow pop-ups, click on it and it will switch from blocking them to allowing them through.
  • Step 8 Virus Protection Software that you have enabled on your computer may also have Pop-Up Blockers within it. You may have to pull up your Menu Page of your Software, usually accessible through your desktop, and allow your pop-ups through your Virus/Spyware Protection.

You may have your anti-virus or firewall software configured to block attachments from being opened in your email. I would advise you to check your security software to see if it can allow you to open certain attachments.
