Volume still clicking

When I slide my finger up the volume control on the Quickplay menu of my laptop it clicks, indicating the sound changing. But it's STILL clicking! I am not good with computers and the only way I've found to stop it is to restart the computer. What can I do?

TRY RE-INSTALLING THE AUDIO DRIVERS FOR YOUR MACHINE TO CURE THIS.  THEN RE-START YOUR COMPUTER AND CHECK THE 'VOLUME SLIDER' AGAIN.  IT COULD ALSO BE THAT YOU HAVE TOO MANY PROGRAMS RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND.

I would first reinstal the sound software and driver. That will confirm it not, to be software. After that it is either a loose connection or a damaged or dirty reostat(slider switch) If you are handy taking things apart. They make a thing called tuner spray(Sold at radi Shack etc) If you can spray some into  the switch, while the computer had no power,it may clean the contacts inside of the switch to get rid of the click. Worth a try .

To do this, click on the slider bar and move it up on the slider.
If you need to decrease the volume, simply move the slider bar down.

Volume on an Acer Laptop
Acer laptops are typically sold with pre-installed Windows operating systems that offer sound-adjustment features for increasing the volume on the laptop's built-in stereo speakers.
These same functions can also be used in tandem with external speakers or headphones to increase the volume, as well as mute all sound on the laptop.
If the computer should output an unusually low volume, fixing the problem may be no more involved than sliding a control switch with the computer mouse. Click once on the speaker icon in the taskbar on the lower-right corner to open a rectangular window with a slide control.
Click and hold the left mouse button on the slide control to drag it upward, increasing the volume to the laptop's maximum setting.
Click the "Mixer" button below the slider control to open another window with volume controls for "Speakers" and "Applications," adjusting each slide control upward to increase the volume.
Be sure the speaker icon below each control is not accidentally muted.
Click once on each speaker icon to remove the red circle with a slash through it, which will restore audio.
Click the Microsoft flag or "Start" button in the lower-left corner if the shortcut speaker icon is missing from the taskbar.
Click "Control Panel" to select "Adjust Sounds" from the Hardware and Sounds category.

How to turn on the speakers on an HP Pavillion dv7 laptop

Go to your control panel and click the "find and fix problems2 link under SYSTEM and SECURITY then select the trouble shoot audio playback. Click next wait for it to search then select speakers and click next this should fix your issue.
Alternatively the volume setting for one or more sound devices might be disabled or set too low. There are separate sound controls for the hardware devices (speakers / head sets) and the individual applications (Windows sound / QuickPlay / Windows Media Player). For example, if the speaker is turned on, but the application is muted, you will not hear any sound. open the sound volume mixer and check the different settings

1. Do you have an external volume control on the side? If so adjust it.
2. Do you have a speaker symbol in your lower right hand toolbar? If so, right click on it, go to open volume control, and adjust the slides.
3. No speaker in the toolbar? Left click START, choose CONTROL PANEL, find the ikon that says SOUND AND AUDIO DEVICES, double left click it and adjust the volume.
