you will have to take your pc apart google the type of pc to see how to take apart and you will need to flash your bios when inside you will see a big flat battry take it out (unplug it) turn on pc then shut down pc and plug back in and restart remember to wait 15 seconds before turning on any computer or you will fry something never turn off than turn back on right away i fried my graphics card that way
You most likely have a heat problem, as you have realized. To fix the problem, your heatsink/fan assembly needs cleaned, and then reinstalled with new heat sink compound. Some disassembly is required, so this isn't an easy job. If you go to a reputable shop, and tell them what you want them to do, rather than just tell them your laptop is shutting down, you should get it done for a fair price!
It is likely that the hard drive is bad or a memory issue. I would start by removing the hard drive and see if it goes past the compaq screen. If it does then you know what is wrong. If not message me and will walk you through the next step
