Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines
It will not agitate or spin. I can hear the motor running and I looked under the machine and the belt that attaches to the pump motor is in pretty bad shape. I,m hoping its just the belts and not the clutch in the transmission any suggestions.
To determine if the transmission caused the belt to wear, then unplug the washer, and looking up inside toward the transmission, note the large diameter pulley that the belt goes around. See if you can turn it by hand. It should turn freely in both directions.
This isn't a 100% guarantee that the transmission is good, but will give you an indication. Make sure the washer is at the end of it's cycle when trying this.
If it turns, replace the belt and see what happens. If it doesn't, make sure none of the solenoids are engaging the linkage, otherwise, you'll be trying to turn the drum or agitator.
