Polaroid FLM-3732 TV

The problem:Press the power button and the led turns blue, but nothing happens. Plug/unplug worked for a while. Then nothing. Polaroid diagnosed over the phone(had me hold a flashlight upward on the screen to rule that out) the control box charging me $225.00. Tech came, no fix. Promised to get back to me 24-48 hours. No. I had to call each time and they made an excuse. Its been a month and today they want to charge me for an LCD and give me $100. I told them no deal. They did the diagnosis over the phone! Bought caps myself and had tv tech to come check them out. He replaced 3 that were about gone, but no pic. He is trying to figure out...he still thinks it is something about the control box.

Turns out, I find the parent company 'Petters Group Worldwide' went bankrupt October 2008.

CLASS ACTION??????????????????

Disappointed.

My FLM-3732 is now doing the same thing. When I power it on with the remote I just get a blank screen. If I hit the power button... nothing. I have been unplugging the power from the back and plugging it back in and that seem to take care of it but I'm wondering how long that will last before it dies. I don't mind tearing it apart and replacing some caps but... really. I guess if it dies it's a decent option. Thanks for the input. It might save me from buying a new set.

My FLM-3732 did the same thing yesterday. But I had a had time getting it to come on and it finally did.But when viewing with the analog tuner I could see some hum in the picture. The digital ones looked normal.

Today when I turned it on the LED went blue but then dimmed and slightly flashed/flickered.

On the power supply board there were 2 very small 1000 microFarad 10V capacitors that looked odd.The tops were slightly pushed up.
I pulled them off and they both read too low.Only about 200 microFards.
Replaced them both with a couple of 1000 microFarad 16V capacitors from the junk drawer.

Now it works normal again.

Have someone inspect the power supply board for bad or puffed up caps--getting any parts or boards for this brand is not real easy.

Have to unplug it after I turn it off to get it to come back on.

Power supply board is dead.Have dead capacitors that bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.U know basic electronic's and soldering.Replaced these bulges and puff up on it top.Or tries wesite like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement. After the power supply board is fix or replaced, the power LED indicator light on the LCD panel will not flikers anymore and u will have a solid green light all the times and get the power back to normal.

Polaroid FLM-3732 Television turns on then off

A common problem with this television is the power unit. Some of the capacitors go out on them within 2 years. You can buy a replacement power unit for about $150 or if you know how to use a soldering gun you can purchase the capacitors for about $5 and fix the unit yourself.

I just fixed my Polaroid 3732 and it cost me $3.49. I would push the power button and the standby light would come on but the picture would not appear. After I changed the capacitors it starts right up.

Blue LED light comes on but nothing else happens when turned on

It can be the main board or the power supply, look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

Polaroid FLM 3732 No lights or anything

There are microchips theses days that can burn out easy on power boards. A large sturdy transformer could be used instead, in the design, but transformers cost big bux in comparison to microchips. Don't blame your TV manufacturer for using cheaper parts. They have a profit margin to maintain.

The fix is posted here! I took my tv in to a repair shop, since I am not mechanically inclined to make the repairs myself. $75 later it works!!
