Have T5026 emachine with boot problem

Turn off machine one evening, next evening it started up, but went to a black and white screen giving me options for start up of Windows. Tried all options including safe mode. If I try to start as normal or last best start, it will go to the Windows start screen (W logo and the bar with the blue whatevers) for about a minute and then the screen goes blank and the system begins to reboot again. And, it will just keep doing it continuously if I let it. I can hear the hard drive doing it's thing, but then it just stops with a quiet little click. At that point, it goes back to the big E logo, then back to the black and white screen. Any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks mikeytrav. I will try your suggestions and let you know if any options work out. Note: I initially did try to move the hdd to another pc, but unfortunately, the connections on the back of the hdd (Seagate Barracuda 7200.7, model:8T3160023AS) are very different from any other pc I have. Do you know of any conversion methods if that's the course I need to take?

I did try the recovery disk route. However, when I went though all the procedures, the screen that popped up eventually, only gave me the option of a full format with all data and apps lost, even though initially, I chose "r" at the starting screen, which not suppose to delete all from the hard drive. Any ideas as to what is happening? Thanks again for any suggestions.

Sounds to me that theres a good chance that the windows files are corrupted. It is possable that its could be hardware, but software is free so start there.

If youve got the recovery disks then put them in and restart. Just attemp a repair of your windows. its worth a shot. you may need to go into your boot setting to boot from disks.

if you havnt got them and you havnt got warrenty them youll have to format the drive and install a fresh copy of windows, and find all the drivers from the emachines after.

1st get all the stuff off the drive that you need/want, take the drive out and connect it to another pc or use some sort of external connection.

then find a copy of windows that matches the licence sticker on the case of your pc. throw the hdd back in and boot the disk, format the drive and install windows.

youll have to get the drivers from

when you get to the drive options, select the (most likely) C drive it wil then give option for

    format

    quick format

or below that should be an option to keep file and install over it... press that

are you sure u have the correct disk? one that matches your code on the label?

If you are not booting from a network, PXE-boot is the wrong boot option.

You have to change the boot order so that the PC will boot from your HDD. This can be set in the boot option in your BIOS.

Depending on the type of BIOS, you will enter F2 or Delete during the POST( when the white letters appear on the screen after you turned it on). This will enter you into the BIOS setup. boot options are usaully the last tab. Either disable the PXE-boot or change the priority so that it boots from the HDD first. Please, if you are unformiliar with this, reference the manual or ask someone with some IT background.

If the problem still exists after you configured the boot options your hard disk drive might not be readable. The BIOS just goes to the next availible boot device.

Make sure that you have the monitor plugged into your video card if you have one (usually a horizontal port), and not your motherboard(usually a vertical port).
If it's not a plug issue, then if you press F8 repeatedly while the computer is starting, Windows will give you a boot menu, select the option "Enable VGA Mode" and windows will revert the resolution to a more common one, and will allow you to reset the resolution to one that your video processor can handle.

I have an emachine t5026 that won't turn on. It

There can be two problems with your PC. either the power supply is faulty which is highly probable, and the other is that your Motherboard maybe faulty or both things are faulty. Try replacing the Power supply first. It should solve your problem.

Try this. Go into your setup screen ( F10 or DEL ). From here set up the system to boot from another device ( hopefully you have the original Windows disk or a bootable 3.5" Disk)
I would like you to change boot sequence and boot from one of these other devices ( hoping that you don't have an infection which jumps to your clean boot - to prevent this on bootable floppy, open the little door}..

After installing hard drive, monitor, keyboard, mouse not working

Have you tried to enter BIOS? Are you able to enter BIOS?? There may be an option you have to hit to enable SATA, and to select the boot device order, which may be messing things up.
Also, remember that STATIC ELECTRICITY is your enemy! Ground yourself when working inside the case.

REBOOT LOOP -EMACHINE T5026

You have provided some good information, but more detail is needed.

Is the system still under warranty? How long ago did this start? Have you added any new hardware or software?

Your reboot issue might not be hard drive or MBR related. Disconnect everything not needed for booting. Even disconnect keyboard and mouse to see if it will get to the Windows Desktop.

If that works, start adding until you get the reboot problem again.

If none of that helps and you need to recover data from the computer, buy or borrow a hard drive you can boot to for the computer and when you are able to boot to Windows, you can back up your important data, then wipe the drive and reload Windows or leave it blank as extra storage capacity depending upon your desire or circumstances.

Let me know if you have questions.
