Problem for Sanyo VWM-700 VCR
Remote control problem

I have a Sanyo VWM-700 VCR. This afternoon I disconnected it from one
room and took it to another room.
When it was hooked up again, some of the remote buttons wouldn't work,
and still don't.
Buttons that work: TV/VCR; Record; Play; Rewind; FF; Stop; Pause &
Eject.
Buttons that don't work: The power button; the channel number buttons;
arrow buttons.
The menu button will bring up the menu, but the arrow buttons don't work
so I can't go up and down the menu to select the various options.
This same thing happened a month or so ago, and after doing something
with the remote, everything worked again. Trouble is I have no idea what
it was I did to get it to work.
Anyone know how I can get the remote to work fully again?

- Same problem, but due to power outage. I suspect the remote needs to be reprogramed (see the back of the remote, it will say to hold the TV/VCR button in for a few seconds, and then type in the 2 digit code for you TV, etc.) Yes, I know that, that shouldn't have anything to do with the remote working, but it just might. As with all old items, I can't find the original paper manual for the remote to get the codes, so I'm looking online to see if a manual is available, so far I haven't found one, not even on the SANYO site. (My guess is, if the remote is setup, it will function fully -- I hope.)- GuestSolution #1

Have you tried pulling the RC unit apart and cleaning the switch contacts?
Also examine the PCB tracks for any obvious damage, especially if you've had
battery leakage in the past.
