Most of HD channel broadcast in 5.1 channel sound. Regular channel broadcast in 2.0 channel sound. You TV only have 2 speakers so you will expect the sound will be low compare with the regular channel.

Hope this will help!

Sound bad on hd channels

I ended up installing a stereo graphic equalizer/ sound limiter from Radio Shack. I use the ear phone output go into the equalizer / sound limiter then go into a speaker system. You can adjust the EQ and limit the volume. I also had problems with load portions of movies, commercials and low/ high audio. This also allows sound enhancement with some buttons on the EQ. It is usually used in sound reinforcement as in Band and public address systems also higher end stereos systems. you will need a set of powered speakers for this solution so the EQ has somewhere to go to.

"No Signal" on channel 9

Appears you are getting a weak signal at the channel 9 frequency. If you are using a signal splitter, try replacing it with an amplified unit since splitters always do the deed but they can and will reduce signal strength significantly.

Also remember that digital signals are not like the older analog ones that they replace. They are not subject to ghosting but are weaker and susceptible to all sorts of interference such as a leaf, rain, etc. Your antenna is good.
You also might try raising the antenna. The higher it is the better it works. (use some wire to further support additional height) Why do you think transmitters are so tall?!?!?

How do I get from 480 to 1080p on my tv? I have an HD box on my vizio 42 inch tv but my channels are still showing 480?

1080P is a quality you'll only get with a blue ray quality video. Therefore, you won't get 1080P on cable tv. If your cable provider has HD channels available, you'll be able to get 720 or 1080i quality video (on those channels only). For the best quality, make sure you are using an HDMI cable. Just be sure your cable box supports an HDMI output. Your Vizio definately supports that type of input. If you have a PS3 or alternative blue ray player, you'll be able to watch 1080P.

I have a Vizio 50 Plasma TV. Sound works but display is "noise".

It'll be the X or Y boards or maybe the power board, without checking the VA and VS voltages I can't tell.

Phillips 50PF9431D/37: Perfect Picture, inuadible audio

The audio or sound IC (integrated Circuit) on the TV panel maybe bad and need to be replaced.
Also, the speakers of the TV may have a weak connection from inside the panel.
But my best bet is the first solution i gave. If u are not a qualified electronics technician then take it to a service centre.

Plasma TV moving black and white lines

This is a result of poor conversion of a SD signal on a HD channel.  Go into your settings and adjust the h/v settings to move the line off the screen.  You can do this with a combination of v-position or vsize.
