As of 2007 Minolta stoped all camera related products. You may however go thru Sony at http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/contact/sonylist/index.html to find your local support center.

Konica-Minolta no longer offers service for their cameras themselves. Please refer to this list for contacts and service providers in your country or region of the world.

Minlota Vectis 2000- I want to open the film door without battery power. Is there an emergency release?

In short, no. The camera must be dismantled. If the film hasn't rewound, then if you wish to save your images you must dismantle it in total darkness: not easy! As the camera is usually a write-off anyway I just slowly crush APS cameras in a vice in my darkroom until they pop open enough for me to extract the film.

If the camera is faulty and not just in need of a fresh battery, then after recovering your film just chuck the camera away; it's not repairable and it definitely isn't collectable. APS was a poorly-engineered system from the start and 35mm has outlasted it largely because APS cameras were generally highly fault-prone and unreliable. It also didn't help that the image quality was worse than on 35mm because of the smaller negatives.

It's not all bad news: 35mm cameras of most types are now mostly near worthless and so commonly available for free on FreeCycle and Freegle as are APS cameras if you really want another.

Hopefully you will just need a fresh battery, but either way I hope that you manage to recover your film successfully.

I was just given a minolta maxxum 5 with no manual can i get a manual free?

You can download it for free. Its a pdf file so you will also need a version of Adobe Reader which you can also get free at the Adobe website. Here's the website address for your Maxxum 5 manual.
http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/manuals/film-cameras/film_af_slr/index.html

If that does not work, look up Konica Minolta in a web search. Click on the Konica Minolta Canada. In the lower right of the screen click on info about cameras, then find your way to the manuals.

Then add fresh CR2 batteries, film and go play!!!

Film winding handle missing

Depending on where you live, your best bet is one or more of the following: 1) eBay 2) your nearest Tamron distributor/service centre (Tamron bought Bronica in the early '90s and may still cary spare parts). 3) local camera repair centres

Should I Repair My Konica FC-1?

A Konica FC-1 or A3 with a 50mm lens typically sells for $75 or less on E-bay. Get an estimate from a camera repair man. If it is cheaper to buy a "new" camera, go to E-bay or Craig's list. By the way, Konica is a mid-grade camera. For the same money, you should consider a top rated Nikon or Cannon.

Older equipment on newer equipment

Carry one of your lenses to a camera store and ask them to let you compair it with one for a Maxxum.

The Sony Alpha / Konica / Minolta mount is called a TYPE A bayonette mount. google the Maxxum and see if it accepts the TYPE A mount.

Blank film

I had the same problem. I think I finally figured it out. My problem was that the Shutter was in lock mode. In the manual book there is a section called "Shutter Lock." How to get it unlocked: While pressing the drive mode button (1), turn the camer on with the function dial (2); the data panel displays the status of the shutter lock. If it says "lock", you will need to do this process again to get it unlocked.

To find out where the buttons are, you will need to look in your manual -- page 53.

Hope this corrects your problem.
