Canon 1000D wont let me shoot

Hi last night at the hockey game my Canon 1000D suddenly stopped working. No mode selection information comes up on the LCD when the camera is switched on. It still tries to focus and take the shot but says busy on the viewfinder. Also the access lamp flashes once when i power on and off the camera. I have also tried different SD cards to no avail. Any ideas??????

Hello, my Canon 1000d wont take the picture at night just flash a bunch of times. It also says busy on the screen. what does this mean and how do you stop it from doing this?

This sounds like a flash configuration issue combined with the continuous shooting mode, which will take 3 pictures in rapid succession and display "busy" while the flash is recycling. For starters, switch it back to single shot mode. That's the button that looks like the stack of pages and the timer clock. Then turn off the flash. That's the icon with the flash lightning image with the bar through it.
You will probably need to adjust your ISO, shutter speed, and aperture setting to get a good low-light shot.

Hope this helps!

I need help setting my Canon EOS Rebel XSi. I was taking photos of my son's soccer game last evening and most of them came out blurry. What setting/s should I set my camera on to get great night shots of...

First of all, don't use the flash...it's only good for a short distance. Obviously, you need a fast shutter speed to stop the action. To get this to happen while in auto mode, you will need to set the ISO to a higher number such as 800 or 1600. You will need to take a couple of test shots to find the correct setting.

I can help you fix the BUSY Error or Error 99 of your Canon EOS Rebel XS.

Installation of this Canon EOS Rebel XS firmware version 1.06 update will solve these problems:
  1. Some cameras may exhibit a phenomenon in which the LCD monitor does not display, the shutter does not release, and the BUSY indication remains lit in the viewfinder.
  2. The message, "Err 99 Shooting is not possible. Turn the power switch to<OFF> and <ON> again or re-install the battery", appears on the camera's LCD monitor, and after the above operation is carried out,the LCD monitor displays in a language that is different from the actual language setting.
See the firmware instructions and download the firmware upgrade by following these Fixya Tips :

I have a Canon camera, which worked fine. I had to recharge teh batteries often, that was all. Last night, i took it out. In view mode, the camera does not shut off. The moment i switch to camera mode, the...

I'm assuming you're talking about a point-and-shoot model, and not the 1000D as the category suggests. Camera mode has significantly higher power requirements than viewing mode. It is possible that your rechargeable battery has degraded to a point where it no longer can power camera mode, or it might just be discharged. Try with a freshly charged battery, or if you're lucky enough to run on AA batteries, get new ones. You might also try using the camera while plugged into the USB port of the PC, which might be able to supply power to the camera. I have noticed that when the batteries are near-empty, the camera "dies" rather abruptly.

How do you active the LCD screen on Canon EOS Rebel XS. I've read teh manual but still cannot active it. this is to review the shot before you take the shot.

In your manual it is on page 95, on how to do this,
It is called LIve view shooting and it does not work on basic zone modes.
1. Set camera to a creative zone mode
2. then under that tools option select live view function setting then press the set button
3 select live view shoot then hit set
4. press the menu button to exit

First of all, shooting sports in manual is about the most difficult thing you could ever choose to do. I use the Av (Aperture Priority) and let the camera set the shutter speed. Just set your aperture wide open and fire away. That way, you're not constantly fighting with settings missing great shots. Also, in manual, BULB is simply one of the settings and can't be turned off. It can only be 'not selected'.

Best of luck!
