Go onto ebay see if you can find one that has the same model number and same configeration as your system, when you find it ask to see if they have installation ppackit for installing a new monitor even though it is a used monitor, if not you should be able to find a internet site that can supply you with that information and it is not that hard just remove a few screws lay out everything the way you took it apart and re assemible the same way and re boot the system,

but before you do that wouldnt be easyer to have one test it because what if it is the plug in vedio card in the labtop and pay all the money find out it was the plug in memory card for the vedio screen

Its better to send it to the DELL service centre near your location...they are more capable on repairing there on products....for the cost...that generally depends on the damage (parts/replacements) and the technicians charge fees.

Dell Inspiron 1501 Power Button won't turn on ....

I would remove the hinge / power button cover again and make sure the little pip that presses the button down it not broken, also check the little circuit board with the switch on to make sure it's not disconnected.
Try switching on with the cover removed.

Go to Control Panel/Power Options and check the settings. It's probably set to shut off after a period of time.

I'd be frustrated as well. Fortunately, your Inspiron is still under warranty - contact Dell. They may send a tech to fix, or you may need to send back the laptop to them to be fixed.

Dell inspiron 1501 screen broken

you have a bad LCD screen. If you have the capability to, take off the lcd screen and find the part number on the back and do a search on ebay for the same part number. If you cannot do this on your own, take it to a local computer repair store and see what it would cost to have this done. I work at a Computer Renaissance and we charge approx. 120 for that service plus the cost of the part.

I have a red strip about a a wide all the way down the screen

It sounds as if your display is going bad. If put a little pressure on the screen and the red strip warps it is probably your liquid crystal display in the screen itself.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 and its a little over a year old. It started acting funny about a month ago. It will work fine for about 5 minutes then it goes to a screen with different colored bars and i...

Hey there,
Colored bars make me think of hardware failure of the 1)screen or the 2)graphics card. Both of these, on a laptop, are going to mean sending it in for repair, out of warranty, and paying their rate, which maybe 150 bucks or more. Now, it might be software, considering it works for a bit, then gives you bars. You would hope it's that,. because you can try to solve it by downloading your most recent video card driver.

Ive had an inspiron and like 4 other laptops. A few times I tried updating my video driver to what ended up to be the wrong one, and it gave me lines and bars on the screen. I had to restart in safe mode and roll back to the old drivers, voila, fixed.

Try to go to dell and download the video card or graphics card drivers for your operating system. Install them, reboot. Does it help?

Try to restart in safe mode by pressing F8 when booting up (you have to press it repeatedly as you boot up). Select safe mode, you'll see some stuff on the screen, dont get scared, you'll load windows without all teh extra baggage. You'll see a kindergarten looking screen with big icons and letters. Dont be scared, it's just a basic video driver that lets you see the screen, but not to its full potential. What you're trying to isolate by using teh computer in this state for 15-20 minutes is "will the problem happen with hardly any software loaded". If it does, it's likely hardware-related, needing repair.

If you need to send it in, you'll pay. they wont overcharge you hopefully, but a new laptop computer costs 400-600 bucks minimum, which is a lot less than it used to be, but more than the cost to swap out a graphics card. A new LCD screen may cost you 175 with labor, but that's a guess since I dont have my 2 dell laptops any more...

Try the things I mentioned, and good luck!
