GOT LIKE .2VS AND THE LARGE ONE WAS 1.5VS. IT MIGHT BE THE POWER SUP.BUT WHY DO THE FANS RUN AND HD?I CHECKED THE CPU IT LOOKED OK . WHATS WIERED IS THAT I CAN UN PLUG MY CD/DVD AND THE TRAY WILL OPEN AND RUN THE CD AND WHEN I PLUG IT BACK IN THE MOTHER BOARD NOTHING HAPPENS THE TRAY WANT OPEN. IT JUST WANT BOOT UP. NOTHING ON THE MONITOR.

  • eakesj Feb 06, 2009

    machadojr_fe,

I HAVE THREE SMALL PLUG IN'S ON THE MOBO THAT GO TO THE PWR BUTTON.DIDNT WANT TO UNPLUG THEM TO CHECK VOLT.SEEM TO HARD TO FIND THE RIGHT WAY TO PUT THEM BACK.3 PLUG IN BUT 9 PINS. SOME TO LOOK LIKE RED AND RED WITH A WHITE CROSS. GREEN AND BLACK, AND SO ON. I DID UNPLUG ON THAT WENT TO THE PWER ****. THE COMP. WOULDNT COME ON. NOT SURE THAT THIS WILL HELP? BY THE WAY I HAD NO BEEPS. ONLY THE FANS CAME ON. WHEN I UNPLUG THE HD AND CD/DVD THEY STARTED TO WORK (FROM THE MOBO). YOU THINK IT COULD BE THE RIBBION SLOTS SHORTED OUT.OR THE MEM.?

This could be a few things though if you have already checked the memory and HD. The next thing I would tell you is that you should check the cpu. Also make sure that everything in the BIOS is set to the default settings when you start it.

Please try using a different ribbon cable on the cd drive going to the motherboard and switch to a different molex connector going from the power supply and see if you get the same problem.

  • machadojr_fe Feb 06, 2009

If this was caused by memory you would either get a beep or see a error on the screen, if your mobo is not connected to a speaker on the case then if you have another stick that you know is working try that and see if the system boots if it does then the memory was bad. If it is still not working it could be one of the drives try just the HDD and just the cd/dvd drive to see if it starts with just one. If it starts with just one and not the other and then still does not start when the other one is the only one plugged in that one will be the cause of your problem.

  • machadojr_fe Feb 06, 2009

Yes the memory could cause this problem and you can find a cheap memory stick on www.newegg.com

The problem is most likely not the MOBO if there is power going to anything connected to the MOBO check the voltage going from the power supply into the MOBO and then the voltage on the MOBO to the power button on the case if both are good then the problem is not the MOBO as it is supplying power to the components but could be a chip on the MOBO itself.

Hook up the speaker and if you hear any beeps let me know how many times it beeps and how long the beep is and whether or not it is a steady beep.

ok let me know the results

  • machadojr_fe Feb 09, 2009

Ok if the fans and power button and even the drives are starting then it is not the MOBO. Check the memory if you have another module that you know works test it and see if it will post if it does you know it's a bad memory module. Please post the results once you do this.

Also did you recently flash the BIOS? If you did check your jumpers you mave have accidentally left them in the flash position. Which erases the cmos. If you haven't yet please make sure the cmos battery is in place as well.

If your memory is not the problem and the jumpers are set correct. We have checked your HD and PSU and CPU. So I would have to say you may have a bad ROM chip on your MOBO.

Acer desktp internal ram installation needed

I'm a bit confused....did you have all four of these in the ACER and are trying to put the 2x1GB into the Emachine? And that the 2x1 GB wouldn't work in the Emachine but they did in the ACER and that the 2x512 Acer cards worked in the emachine?

If that is what happened here is my best guess. The ACER MOBO will support 533/667/800 MHZ DDR2 RAM. The Emachine will only support 533 RAM. Iys possible the 2x1GB are either 667 or 800 MHZ and are not compatible with the Emachine but will work in the ACER.

THe Emachines T6534 is not recognizing the monitor i have plugged in, thoguh the monitor is also emachines and i'm pretty sure it came with the computer

The problem could be with your Graphics card.

1) Try the monitor on another PC, is it good? If yes
2) Try removing and re-seating the graphics card.
3) If on board graphics and so no graphics card, try a PCI graphics card in one of the spare slots

Emachine will not boot. When I turn it on there is a constant beep. All the fans are working and it sounds like it is going to boot, but no signal to the monitor!!

Ok check your video card and the memory card. If it is plug in card try to reseat it or clean its edge connector the one that makes contact with the slot, both sides with clean soft eraser. Do this when power is off and and unit is unplugged from wall socket if you have UPS disconnect it from the UPS.

Replaced power supply on T2240 emachine now cant get onboard video" or any video, also tried PCI video card with no results. Need video to see if machine can boot

the fact that your not getting any video is that your computer is not booting or it can't boot right now.

might be best if you found someone to test and help you with it or if you took it to someone.

Wont boot 2 windows xp home when 2 gig memory installed, works with 1 gig, tried both slots with both 1 gig sticks.Screen goes black.

Seems the memory is not comatable with the motherboard. Replace the old memory and visit http://www.crucial.com, they have a scanner tool which will confirm what mem can be installed.

Comp not reading montor

It sounds like the on board video has failed. I would try installing a video card on the motherboard. Then in the bios at start up, disable the on board video, so it will use the video card instead.

I hope this helps and thanks for using FixYa,
