Motorola WS5100 and CGI-ERROR on Web login, while CLI works

Hi,
our couple of WS5100 Motorola access port switches are showing the following strange issue: accessing the configuration/monitoring via the Web panel fails with "CGI-Error". We double-checked the login credentials and they are correct.

Accessing the CLI via telnet works like a charm with the *same* credentials. Tried a "reload" command but the situation didn't change.
Any clue?

Regards,
Angelo Amoruso

I would suggest going to the site above and read more on configuring your device. It sounds like your VPN firewall is blocking your browser from accessing the web interface.

Access denied

yes, you should be able to connect to the console port using a roll-over cable RJ45-DB9, connect using hyper terminal or similar using the com port settings 9600,8,N,1
You can then configure the switch from the CLI...

Have you set the 'Login' command on the VTY lines in the switch setup and an IP address on the management VLAN to connect to.
You also HAVE to have a password enabled on the vty lines in order to connect via telnet.

hope this helps.

How i can reset the password in a enterasys C3G124-48, if lose it

Before trying anything too drastic, I'd try using the username "admin" without the quotes and leaving the password blank. If that doesn't work, then you'll have to use the reset switch that's located on the back of the switch (number 1 in the pic below). nickmyers46.jpg

The following steps are taken from the manual for the switch.
1. Press-and-hold the reset switch while the switch device is operational. This change of the login password to the default password will be indicated through CLI only.
2. Logon the device management. You can now logon to the switch through the console port and assign a new password using the command line interface (CLI).

Unable to access a netgear router's web administration gui

Well, try the below steps to login to the interface:

1. Connect a computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports.
2. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
3. Access the router, usually by typing 'http://192.168.1.1' or 'http://www.routerlogin.com' in the address bar.
4. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive).
Hope this allows you to resolve the issue.

Remove a ACE from an ACL using CLI

Sure thing:

First to enable the web interface, try command:

ip http server

Also try:
ip http port 80

That will enable it on the default port

As for the ACL's I looked at the documention and I believe the syntax is to put a deny in front of the command and that will remove it.

Of course the GUI will be easier to deal with

The manual can be downloaded from:

Wants to reset 3824 3com switch via console

You forget the password for the "admin" user account and can no longer perform important management operations. solution.gif Use the password recovery method outlined below to define a new password for the "admin" user account:
  1. Access the Command Line Interface from the console port and enter the user name "recover" and password "recover" to place the Switch in password recovery mode. The Switch remains in password recovery mode for a maximum of 30 seconds, before it returns to the CLI login prompt.

note.gif You must use the console port to recover the passsword. If you attempt the recovery method using the network, the password will be rejected.

  2. Perform a hard reset on the Switch whilst it is in password recovery mode by switching it off, waiting a few seconds, and switching it on again.

note.gif You cannot use a soft reset operation to reset the password of the "admin" user account. This will end the password recovery procedure and return you to the CLI login prompt.

  3. When the Switch has rebooted following the hard reset enter a new password for the "admin" user account.

At-8624t

How to Configure the Switch
Some configuration is necessary to enable the switch’s advanced switching
capabilities. This is achieved via the Command Line Interface (CLI). On the
AT-8624T/2M, you can also use the Graphical User Interface (GUI).
Using the CLI to configure a switch
1. Connect a terminal or PC to the Terminal Port (ASYN0).
Using the supplied RS-232 DB9 serial straight-through cable, connect your
terminal or PC to the RS-232 Terminal Port:
• For the AT-8624T/2M and AT-8624PoE, the RS-232 Terminal Port is on
the front panel.
• For the AT-8648T/2SP, the RS-232 Terminal Port is on the back panel.
2. Set the communication parameters.
Set the communication parameters on your terminal or terminal emulation
program to:
• Bit rate: 9600
• Data bits: 8
• Parity: None
• Stop bits: 1
• Flow control: None
3. Log in.
After the switch has booted, the login prompt appears. If the login prompt
does not appear, press [Enter] two or three times.
When the switch boots for the first time it automatically creates an
account with manager privileges. The account has the login name manager
and the password is friend.
At the login prompt, enter the login name and password:
Login: manager
Password: friend
The switch’s command prompt appears. Now use the CLI to configure the
switch.
Using the GUI to configure the AT-8624T/2M switch
This section describes how to establish a connection to the AT-8624T/2M switch
through the GUI so you can configure it before installing it in your LAN.
1. Select a PC to use and identify its subnet.
You can browse to the switch from any PC that is running a supported
operating system with a supported browser installed. JavaScript must be
enabled. If you are using a toolbar or plug-in on your browser to block popups,
disable it while using the GUI. The GUI displays detailed configuration
options and information in pop-up windows.
2. Connect the PC to the switch.
Use an Ethernet cable to connect an Ethernet card on the PC to any one of
the switch ports.
You can browse to the router through any VLAN, as long as you give that
VLAN an IP address. These instructions assume you are using vlan1. All
switch ports belong to vlan1 by default.
3. Access the switch’s command line interface.
Access the CLI from the PC, as described in the previous section, “Using
the CLI to configure a switch”.
Installation & Safety Guide 13
4. Enable IP.
enable ip
5. Assign the vlan1 interface an IP address in the same subnet as the
PC.
add ip interface=vlan1 ip=ipaddress mask=mask
6. Save the configuration and set the switch to use it on bootup.
create config=your-name.cfg
set config=your-name.cfg
7. On the PC’s web browser, bypass the HTTP proxy server, if
necessary.
8. Point your web browser at IP address for vlan1.
9. At the login prompt, enter the user name and password.
User Name: manager <the default>
Password: friend
The System Status page is displayed. Select options from the sidebar menu
to configure and manage the switch.
For context-sensitive online help, click the Help button at the top of the
sidebar menu or on any pop-up page

I hope this helps you out

Unotron optical mouse under Vsta HPrm !

The Unotron CS5100 range was discontinued some 3 - 4 years ago and replaced with the WS5100 so I am guessing that the one you have would not support Vista.

Have you tried contacting the place you bought it from, maybe they will switch it for you?
