I am not using vista as the operating system.

  • ruth waltman Feb 04, 2009

where do I find auto-size? There is no such setting on my printer under settings

  • ruth waltman Feb 04, 2009

it will feed the envelope but the printing is cut off.

  • ruth waltman Feb 04, 2009

I have done all of that. The problem is the envelope is 6 inches high by 9 inches wide. If I move the envelop to where I think the return address will print, it states no paper. If I move the envelope to where it is supposed to go in the paper feeder, it cuts the return address off.

Check your printer's settings In CONTROL PANEL.

The paper orientation, media type, and size should be in there.

Also be sure the paper feed tray is set up properly.

CLICK HERE to access your user manual if you do not have it.

  1. Click on the Mailings tab. (If using an older version of Word, click the Tools tab, then select Letters and Mailings.)
  2. Select Envelopes (if using an older version of Word, Envelopes and Labels). Enter your delivery address, and if you like, a return address in the appropriate field
  3. Select Options to choose a font, and select an envelope size from the drop down menu. (Check your envelope packaging for exact sizes). If your size is not available, select Custom Size and enter your dimensions.
  4. Insert your envelope into your printer’s document feeder the same way you insert paper. Most printers will indicate which way to insert your envelope with an illustration on the document feeder (vertically vs. horizontally, face up vs. face down).
Before printing, follow these additional tips to avoid paper jams and other printing mishaps:
  • Check the packaging to be sure your envelopes are compatible with your printer.
  • Avoid printing on envelopes that are loosely constructed, as they can get caught in your printer or document feeder.
  • Do not try to print on envelopes that have clasps, strings, or buttons. Hand address or use labels instead.
  • If you’re printing a stack of envelopes, stack them loosely to avoid a jam.
Most printers have built-in support for popular envelope sizes. Some even have special trays for feeding envelopes. If your printer has an envelope tray, be sure to enable the "load from envelope tray" option in the print dialog box before printing.Click Print to print a test envelope. If you find that your settings are incorrect, click on Printing Options to choose a different feed method.

What operating system are you using? If you are able to re-set the sizes in the print and printer menus and you are using Vista, Vista does not recognize that you have set a custom size envelope, therefore, you are not able to print it. Try a menu pick size envelope in the print properties on your computer, then let me know what happens.

You must have a record. hp p1006 printer envelopes hang in print que. I have spent many hours with your staff and the problem hasn't been solved?

Envelpopes should be printed using the feed tray located in the front of the printer not through the paper cassette. Try this: Follow these steps to print on envelopes from a computer running Windows. NOTE: For specific details on formatting text for printing on envelopes, consult the help files in the word processing software. For best results, consider using a label for the return address.
  1. Click File , and then click Print . The Print dialog box opens.
  2. Depending on the software program, click Properties , Options , Printer Setup , or Preferences . The printer Properties dialog box opens.
  3. Click the Paper/Quality tab.
  4. Select Envelope as the paper type.
  5. From the Size drop-down list, select the applicable size. To create a custom size envelope, use the following steps:
    1. On the Paper/Quality tab, click Custom .
    2. Click in the Name text box, and then enter a name for the custom envelope size.
    3. Click in the Width text box, and then enter the width. NOTE: Make certain the size is in inches. Click the Use Millimeters/Use Inches button to toggle between using millimeters and inches to define the custom paper size.
    4. Click in the Height text box, and then enter the height.
    5. Click Save .
  6. Click Apply to save the settings.
  7. Click OK to print the envelopes. NOTE: An error message might display asking to load an envelope into the manual feed tray. This might occur even if the envelopes are loaded. Make sure the envelopes are loaded, and then click Continue . The product will continue printing from whichever input tray contains the envelopes.

Smaller items will only feed crookedly into the printer document

Check to see if you are feeding the envelopes and 4x6 cards/photo paper correctly.

Both envelopes and 4x6 cards must be loaded and centered on the paper exit tray (not inside the paper input tray).

Printing envelopes:
  • Up to 15 envelopes can be loaded at a time.
  • The print side of the envelope faces down.
  • The envelopesare centered on the paper exit tray.
  • You print the envelopes with Landscape orientation.
Printing cards:
  • Up to 35 greeting cards, index cards, postcards, or photo cardscan be loaded at a time.
  • The print side of the cards faces down.
  • The cards are centered on the paper exit tray.
  • You select Automatic, Normal, or Photo print quality.

For images on how to correctly load the paper, download your printer user's guide:

Machine flashing load paper message even though paper is loaded

Hi ...

Most of the time this problem comes when the paper is not loaded correctly. Follow the below instructions to load papers to the cassette and I am sure this will resolve your problem. I will keep monitoring your responce and if required, i'll look for a work arround.

Follow this procedure to load paper / envelope in the cassette:
  1. Pull out the cassette from the machine.

    p_ch03_070_e.jpg

  2. Remove the cover from the cassette.

  3. Fan out the sheets of paper so that they do not stick together.

  4. Align the edges of the paper.

  5. If the cassette is not yet extended, use your thumb to press the tab (indicated by the pink circular outline) and release the latch.

  6. After the latch is released, remove your thumb from the tab. Then extend the cassette until a click is heard.

    05sj00149_02.jpg

  7. Load paper on the upper-right corner of the cassette with the print side facing down.

    Note:
    * Since the Credit Card sized paper, Canon Photo Stickers, and Legal sized paper cannot be fed from the cassette, load them in the auto sheet feeder (ASF).
    * When loading A5 or larger sized paper (nonstandard-size paper: 203mm / 8inches or more in length), extend the cassette by pinching the tab.

  8. Grasp the paper guide (A) and align it to the long edge of the envelope stack (2). Align the front edge of the paper stack in the same way (3).

  9. Close the lid and push the cassette all the way into the printer.

Need to print a half-fold card envelope with HP Photosmart C4480

I'm printing wedding invitation envelopes (or A6) and had to set both my C4480 and psc1315 to a regular size 8.5x11 letter size but changed my margins to reflect the smaller size for my envelope with the left side of the screen being the more narrow margin. After adjusting the top margin accordingly, I fed the envelopes, flap side down and straight into the printer and voila...envelope addresses are printed. Good luck. Blu
