When I print on my hp7580 it is a mirror image of what is on the screen. Can't figure out where the error is - in the printer or the software
This is caused by an early driver version provided with the printer.
Download the latest version from the HP website, unplug your printer from your computer then uninstall your existing driver. Once that's successfully completely install the new driver version.
Unfortunately this doesn't always resolve the problem straight away so you may need to repeat this.
To check if you've resolved the problem:
- Go to START > Printers & Faxes
- Locate your L7780 printer
- right click and choose "printing preferences"
- choose the "Two-Sided (Duplex) printing" printing shortcut
- click on the "Advanced" tab
- look at the setting for "Mirror Image"... If you've succeeded this should now be set to "Off"... If it's "On" you still have a problem.
The problem itself is caused by some duff default settings which seem to stick whenever you've done anything that uses the "Two-Sided (Duplex) printing" Printing shortcut provided in the printing preferences.
In particular I've seen this crop up with PDF files...
The new driver does seem to resolve this but a further work around is to define a new duplex setting that has the correct "Advanced" settings and has "Mirror image" set to Off.
This solution also works for the K5400, L7580, L7680, etc...
I have a similar problem with my Deskjet F380. It prints most documents perfectly but when I try to print PDF or similar documents, they are mirror-imaged. This only started happening when it auto downloaded an update. I've checked the settings as advised above and the Mirror Image is set to 'Off'.

When I run the diagnostic print test everything is fine. But when I try to print a manual from the internet or an article (using Internet Explorer) it prints in mirror image which is obviously nothing but a waste of ink!
Any ideas?
Do you have xp and sp3 installed?
