Question about Philips Magnavox DVD/VCR Dual Player
When i insert a DVD disk in the drive it does no recognize it
The reason it is not recognizing your disk could be for two or three reasons. I'll start with the simplest to fix and it is the problem most of the time. The laser lens that goes back and forth to read the disk is dirty. It needs to be cleaned and to do that, you need to take the cover off with the power disconnected. Once the cover is off (only a few screws) you will be able to see the carriage that holds the disk in place. There is about a two inch slot and in there you will see the laser lens that reads the disk. Take a q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol and gently clean the lens, then take the dry end of the q-tip and dry off any excess that has not evaporated.
Before you put the cover back on, plug the unit back in and operate it as normal. Pay close attention that the disk actually begins to spin. This is the second thing that can cause the problem, that the disk never spins. I am sure though that the cleaning will do the job for you. Let me know how you do and I would appreciate you rating my solution if it has helped you with your problem.
