Check inside the port to see if the contacts are not bent, try another network cable.

Also, start the computer in Safe Mode with Networking then plug in the cable.

To start in Safe Mode with Networking
restart computer
tap F8 just after BIOS splash screen (before windows)
select 'Safe Mode with Networking" from the advanced startup menu using the arrow keys.
Things may look weird when windows starts, because it is starting with minimal drivers.

If it seems to OK in safe mode with networking, there is probably some startup item that causes the issue. See this article at capitaltechmd.com on how to troubleshoot startup items.

Good Luck, hope this helps

Try a system restore to a date where you know it did work if you can get system restore to run. (go back as few days as possible, but a date before the issues started.

    If that does not do it;

Try to strip the system as much as possible, start it with just the monitor,

if it appear to start OK, then add just the keyboard, rsetart add Mouse, etc until error re-occurs

if it does not start OK with just the monitor, try to strip inside as much as possible (remove. souncard, modem, all but 1 stick RAM, whatever you can)

It could be just 1 component causing it.

    Good Luck

Moniter reads no signal but tower light is on

Have you changed your resolution recently? Have you installed any programs recently? Have you made any hardware changes lately? Make sure the monitor is firmly connected to the tower and to the back of the monitor. Is the monitor plugged into the wall outlet? If you have two video ports on the back of the tower make sure you are plugged into the correct one, you may also try switching to the other port. Try another monitor if you are able to or try the monitor on another tower to see if you can isolate the problem to the monitor. Do you get anything appearing on the monitor when you first start the computer up? Have you been using a video card or onboard graphics?

My Dell dimension 2400 monitor doesn't work when connected to my tower. It appears that it's off when I connect it to the Dell Dimension 2400 tower, but when I connect the same monitor to another computer,...

Hi! For dell machines when u unplug the video cable/VGA from the tower while the system is on it will show monitor self test.If you are seeing a black box moving around the screen it means that monitor is ok.Check connection between monitor and tower.Make sure cables are securely plugged in.Check if the tower is ok. There is a possibility that your monitor is ok but the tower is not.check the power button (whats the color) if amber/orange, this means there is something wrong the the tower. If its blue or white it means its ok.Also check if you are going to hear one beep, it means system is booting up properly. If tower is ok and you are using a expansion video card then try to use internal one, normally its the vga port above the usbs.If you are going to use onboard video card make sure you enable it first in bios.If all things fail, contact your manufacturer, if the system is under warranty then they will send a tech to check the machine.hope this helps...

1st make sure the USB port works (try plugging it into a differant USB port, if that still gets no results try installing the driver again that may make all the difference in the world atleast it won't hurt to try

My hp2009m monitor goes into sleep mode

Monitors are programmed to go to sleep when there is no input. If you shut it down on the other "tower" also it will do the same. You need to physically hit the power button on the monitor to actually shut it off.

It is stuck in power saver mode tried every thing can not get in come back up. Tried turning off and on, unpluged and pluged back in, put in cd, tried starting in safe mode with F8 key.

Possible that it's caused by a faulty hardware

1. Remove all the connection at the back of your computer
2. Power cycle your computer tower by pressing the power button for 15 seconds
3. Plug the power cord back in and monitor cable at the back of your computer tower (if it turned on, meaning that one of the device plugged at the back of your computer is the one's causing the problem, for you to pin point the problem, try plugging it one-by-one and turn on the computer each time you plug a device)
4. If it keeps on doing that, open up your computer tower (be careful to unplug the power cord and power cycle it to avoid static electricity)
5. Reseat the video card, turn on the computer again, if it's still occurring
6. Reseat the IDE/Sata cable of your hard drive and try to make sure it's properly plugged in, turn on the computer again, if it's still occurring
7. Reseat the memory, turn on the computer and test it again if the same thing
8. If you have 2 memory chip inserted in your computer tower memory slot, remove the other one and turn on the computer, do the same thing to other memory and each slot
9. Reseat the CPU and start the computer.

When I turn on the tower the screen does nothing. But when I hook up the screen to my laptop it works like a charm. the only thing i have done on the inside of the computer case was just clean out the dust...

Check that the video card is propely seasted, that the cable on the card to the plug is still connected to the board. Also that you have not bent or broken any pins off in the connector plug. It is possibler the video board is cactus but the only weay to determine that is to try another monitor. Also make sure you are connecting the monitor to the correct port and not the mouse plug or one of the other comms ports

You're referring to a USB port & there should be at least two of these, most towers have four on the rear panel. If there are no other USB ports, you can purchase a PCI card that plugs into the motherboard & provides the ports, again on the rear panel, but I'm sure that the ports are already there.
