Question about Wacom Intuos3 Graphic Tablet

My Wacom Intuos3 tablet won't switch into pen mode

For some reason my Wacom tablet pen has stopped making the mouse pointer move - everything else seems okay. I have an Intuos3 - Windows Vista and it all used to work fine but I notice it just doesn't switch automatically from mouse mode to pen mode (pointer moves fine with the Intuos mouse). Exact same problem. I'm using vista home premium 64bit.

I Seem to have the same problem. Used table, though known good condition. New install of the Vista x64 drivers.

Pen is recognized in the properties Dialog. I can also scroll with it be using a modifier button. I just cannot get it to move the mouse.

    Thanks,

    Scott<-

I am actually having the OPPOSITE problem. My pen works fine but the mouse will not. The mouse will only work when I go into tablet properties and switch the mouse into pen mode. This problem only started happening after vista installed its own drivers after I plugged the tablet in.

Exact same problem as described, with the same hardware and software. I tried a lot of trouble shooting, found that the pen works when it is set to mouse style mapping (Wacom Tablet Properties -> Grip Pen -> Mapping -> Mode -> Mouse). Oddly enough, the pen also works fine (in the pen setting) when a Windows program called Windows Journal, an application for Tablet PCs, is open. Windows Journal doesn't even need to be in the foreground, it can be minimized, another program selected, and the pen will still function fine. How bizarre...

Do any aspects of your stylus work - does it have an eraser on the back, does that have any activity?

Did you customise any of your buttons on your stylus - do they work?

If you double tap the tablet with the stylus, does it have any impact?

Go to Start>Programs>Wacom>Properties and see if there is the stylus recognised there.

You may have to reinstall the software (I've had that once recently on a new Intuos3)

No chance the pen was dropped or sat on, they do crack easy - that's why they're so cheap to replace ($30).

    Let us know about these.

The winning answer came courtesy of Mr Benedikt Schmitt of Wacom Europe, who offered the following solution: from the Windows Device Manager, disable the “Wacom Virtual Hid Driver” device. (Go to Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Device Manager, find the driver, right-click it and choose “Disable”.) One reboot later (welcome to Windows-land, circa 2008?), everything works as desired. Pressure and tilt sensitivity inside Photoshop still work, and the pen functions just fine in the rest of the Windows desktop. The absolute mapping makes it an absolute pleasure to point quickly and precisely. It makes my laser mouse feel rather clumsy navigating a large 24′ screen!

Does the mouse work (on the tablet)? What happens when the side buttons are pressed do they work? Try un-installing the Wacom driver (Pen Tablet Utility) and Install the latest version from www.wacom.com and see if that helps.

My wacom pen does not work at all, the mouse on the tablet does though

on some older pens, the barrel can spin out of position. If your barrel turns, it can mess up it's function.

Turn the barrel until you hear or feel a clicking into position and try again.

If that doesn't work, move wacom cable to a different usb port. worse case, replace pen.

Wacom intuos3 pen is not working

A few hours ago Wacom released a new driver 6.1.2-5 for the Windows 7/Vista/XP operating systems. I was having the same problem. Hopefully this will be a permanent fix!

The mouse on my Wacom Intuos tablet is not working.

I know this question was asked a long time ago, but I just had this similar problem and found a solution to it.

1. Install the latest Wacom drivers for your device
2. Open the Wacom Tablet Properties from the Start menu.
3. Click on the Mouse tool
4. Click on the Mapping tab halfway down the screen
5. Change the mode from Mouse to Pen

Wacom Intuos3 stopped working when I upgraded to Leopard

I did solve it myself. Having downloaded the new drivers off the Wacom website, I hadn't realised they were still sitting on my desktop waiting to be installed. Once I found the folder and opened and installed it everything worked fine!

My Wacom Intuos3 tablet won't switch into pen mode

I had the same problem with my Intuos3 on Vista. Tech support suggested the following.

Do this.....Go to Start--->control panel---->system(in classic view)---->device manager--->click on "human interface devices"--->then click on "Wacom virtual HID driver" and right click on that and disable it. Your computer will ask you to restart and you will want to do that.

Everything works fine now.
