Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

AVG 8.0 I want to uninstall avg 8.0 so that I can install McAfee. It keeps telling me that installation has failed when I go into control panel and try to uninstall. I was having a problem with my computer when I wanted to download or open files it kept telling me I couldn't. I am not sure what the problem is but I do think it has something to do with the avg.

Hello,

Since that when uninstalling AVG you got a problem, then you have to uninstall it manually. first you have to boot your computer in safemode..(just press F8 at first boot you will be directed to boot menu) and then find or browse the program files in drive c: in there select the folder AVG or what folder your AVg is then delete it. after deleting that folder you have to restart your system in normal mode.

After rebooting click start and then select run: in run type "regedit" and then click ok You will be directed to this windows below.

search..AVG 8.0 - a2f1153.gif

click edit menu and select find: type "AVG" and everytime the search display about AVG then delete it..do the search until nomore AVG result as you click the search button.

that is the way unistalling manually.

after that you can restart again the system and then installa another antivirus.

if this not resolve the issue then probably you have severe error in the system..you need to back up your files and then format and reinstall the windows operating system.

may this help you.

Go to start and click on it then click on the search. Then in the box that comes up typ in Avg
and then click search. It will find any files left over by Avg. When it is done searching, right click where it says Ave and a box will open and click on open container for this file. Then that file can be deleted from there, do that for each file that comes up in your search for Avg. Also you may click on properties for those files to make sure they are a AVG file.

How do i uninstall avg 2014?

Sounds like you installed the AVG Security Suite instead of the AVG Antivirus Free. Go to Control Panel - Open "Programs and Features" and you should see the program listed there. Right click the program and choose Uninstall. Once uninstalled, restart your computer, download AVG Antivirus Free and install it.

Hope this helps...

Hi!

I would highly recommend that you use AVG Remover. It will eliminates all the parts of your AVG installation from your computer, including registry items, installation files, user files, etc. AVG Remover is the last option to be used in case the AVG uninstall / repair installation process has failed repeatedly.

You can download the it here : http://www.avg.com/ww-en/download-tools

Hope it helps.

Thanks for reaching Fixya.

Error action failed for the avgfwfd in f:file registration AVG firewall NDIS driver instalation failed AVG text message exception

you need to uninstall AVG, probably through the Registry since AVG does not have a removal tool.
Once you do so, you can get it to install correctly. Also check that you have the latest windows updates.

Operating system on my Acer 3002WLMi seems extremely slow on start up

This article by George Ou is the BEST guide I have seen for de-gunking and speeding up your PC. I have used this process on about 200 computers (I'm an IT tech at a mid-size company).
http://blogs.zdnet.com/Ou/?p=547

The only place where I depart from George's instructions is that I don't uncheck everything in Autoruns, only the third party software. Keep in mind that if you go too far, all you need to do is boot into safe mode (tap F8 on startup) and re-enable what I just disabled. The first time I did this it took me about 3 hours to get it right, but once you get the hang of it, you can tune-up a PC in 15-30 minutes (amaze your friends!).
If this doesn't take care of all of your problems, install spybot Search and Destroy for Spyware removal
 http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html
and AVG Free for virus scan
http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download?prd=afe

NOTE: All apps linked here and in in the George Ou article are Free. AVG will try to get you to purchase their 'suite' but the free anti-virus gets the job done. If you have Norton or McAfee already installed on your computer, and you are paid up, then don't bother replacing it with AVG. If your Norton/McAfee is expired - uninstall it BEFORE you install AVG. Two AV on 1 PC = bad.

I have downloaded AVG FRee 8.0 but AVG 7.5 is still on computer and I don't know where AVG 8 is.

Hi,

It seems there is some conflict in between 2 versions.

I would suggest better uninstall AVG 7.5 first and then again instal 8.0 in your computer.

It should work now.

Take care
