Phone comes out of sleepmode

I recently got the HTC Touch Pro from Sprint. I like to use the device as a music player. I keep the phone in a loose leather case when listening to music. When I listen to music with a head jack, it lets me go to sleepmode w/o shutting down the music player. (cool feature to preserver battery life). But here is my problem. Randomly, the phone would come out of sleepmode and the touch screen becomes sensitive to the holster. When I take my phone out of the holster, I see it trying to edit my contacts, trying to make a phone call, etc... Does anyone know what is making the phone come out of sleepmode and is there a way to disable it. I know its not the stylus or accidentally pressing the power button. Sometimes, I just leave the phone idle on the table in sleepmode and the screen would just come on for no reason then go back to sleepmode after a set time. (Theres no new calls, emails or txt msgs.) Anyone have solution? This issue is bugging me.

SAME problem. The phone comes out of sleep mode even while lying on the table, untouched. SO, I don't believe the key lock idea will help. This is likely a software glitch which HTC needs to finally fix or many of us, myself included, will ditch these phone and move to another brand! Battery life is so short due to this that it has to be constantly on the charger.

Turn off device. Now slowly start to slide the keyboard out. The device turns on. This used to happen to me too, until I realized why. Best to use a lock utility such as Pocket Shield, or disable the "feature" that turns the device ON when the keyboard slides out.

My phone used to "wake up" for no reason at all. eventually i figured out it was because the active sync was trying to connect. i disabled that, so it no longer wakes up by itself (and my battery life is MUCH longer).

once you get the problem of it coming out of sleep mode fixed, key lock will work fine. i set mine to "lock all buttons except power button" so the only way i can turn it on is by pushing the power button.

and sorry... after typing all that, i see that this problem is a few months old. i guess if someone else has this problem, maybe this will help. lol

It sounds like you have a dust problem. I had the same problem with my Touch Pro (Sprint) too. I tried to re-calibrate the screen but had no luck doing it.

I took it in for service to Sprint and they said I needed a new phone.

I carry insurance on mine and qualified for a replacement phone. I got it two days later and sent my old one back in the envelope that was enclosed with my new phone.

Even if you don't have insurance on your account, contact Sprint and ask for their help in getting you a new phone. If you've been with them for a while you can use your 'upgrade' to get a new phone for a lot less. They'll work with you.

HTC touch pro frequently requires reset

HTC Touch Pro is a joke. My HTC Mogul quit working after a year's worth of light use in August 2009. I stupidly chose to upgrade to the HTC Touch Pro. The first one I had, the keyboard quit working with 6 weeks (unfortunately for me, not in Sprint's 30 trade in period!). I had also had issues with the screen freezing off and on, and not being able to answer calls half the time. Don't even get me started on the camera lag, the not being able to hear who is calling me due to poor ear speaker, etc, etc.

So, I called Sprint, and they replaced it with a "refurbished" model. No battery included, just a phone in a bag in a UPS box. I got my number transferred over to it, got all my info transferred over to the "new" Touch Pro. Within two hours, the phone locked down - completely froze. Tried soft reset - NOTHING. Took the battery out for a few minutes. Resolved the issue temporarily. Within an hour it had done it again. By the sixth lock down in less than 24 hours, the phone stayed that way for 2 hours straight. As I type this, two days in to having the phone, I am now up to eleven different times this phone has froze up.

I called Sprint, asked them to please replace this piece of ****. They so nicely offered to replace it with yet another HTC Touch Pro. I asked them if it was at all possible to replace it with a comparable phone from another manufacturer. The answer? NO. It seems it is their policy that they have to replace a phone at least THREE seperate times before they will even consider replacing it with another brand. So, I wrote to every executive e-mail address I could find. I was finally contacted by a "V.I.P. Analyst" with
"Sprint Executive & Regulatory Services" through my e-mail. She told my wife she's been leaving me voicemails on my phone. Funny, I don't even show a missed call on the phone. Unknown as to the voicemails, because the phone won't unfreeze for long enough for me to check them!

Anyway, my wife explained that I was totally unsatisfied by the Touch Pro, and again asked for it to be replaced with a comparable phone from a different brand, as I need a phone that is reliable for business use. Amazingly, she was told no. She explained, again, that we have been with Sprint for five years, and carry five lines with them, spending an average amount of $4200 a year on their services alone. She told her she could "understand your frustration, but the contract you "signed" says that they are only a service provider and are in no way responsible for the devices." The best they can do is replace it with another Touch Pro, as they have no record of having problems with this device. My wife told her to check some of the internet forums and tech reviews. The response? She can "appreciate that people are blogging about it, but again, Sprint has no known issues with this particular device." Funny, I can read through this one site alone and see that SEVERAL Sprint customers have issues with the Touch Pro.

I'm still trying to get something done through Sprint, as overall, they are a great company to be with. I just can't believe they would be willing to lose a five year customer over a piece of **** like the Touch Pro!

My recommendation on the HTC Touch Pro? STAY AWAY, STAY VERY FAR AWAY!!!

Slide out keyboard not working on HTC Touch Pro

Take the battery out of the TP and then press down very hard on the spacebar. This will reconnect the flex cable and will fix it for the time being. But in the end a replacement will be needed.

I pluged in my HTC Touch Pro and i can find it on my computer

This is because your Touch Pro is not a Mass Storage device. You have to actually take out the memory card and put the memory card into the Memory Card Adapter and place the adapter into your computer in the memory card slot. You then have to label folders for MUSIC, VIDEO, IMAGES, and DOCUMENTS and then place the files in the corresponding folders. It will make that noise because a USB device is being connected. This device can be used as a modem which is why your computer recognizes it.

Transfered mp3's from itunes wont show up in Sprint Music player.

If I'm not mistaken you need to have all files that you want show up in Sprint Music Player on the memory card in a folder that says MUSIC or AUDIO. From there open your Windows Media Player and click on Menu and then Click Update Library. Once all Songs are updated exit out of and go to Sprint Music Store. From there click on Library, then go to music note (All Songs tab). It should show you all of the songs that are available. Click on anyone and they should all load on the Now Playing screen. Try that and see if it works.
