Nintendo DS Lite not reading some games

Hi my son has a Nintendo DS Lite and sometimes it has trouble reading the games when inserted into the games slot, when it will not read he takes the game out and has to blow into the slot area many times and then all of a sudden it will start reading and the game will work. Anyone have any suggestions?

Both my boys have the same problem. These are two DS's different games and the same issue. Interestingly they both have PSP's and there is never a problem with these. I was thinking about getting a DSi but am concerned about the same issue occuring. I logged a call for a repair but they have never sent out the fast repair details. Not a product I would recommend to anyone unless they want really anoyed children on long trips. ------Realy disappointed Parent

This is a problem with the pins inside could be dirty or dusty ether way you will need to get a cleaning fluid ie 100% alcohol cleaning fluid us a clean cotton bud inside the slot and use gently as not to damage pins, if the pins are heavy soiled you may need to get a fiberglass tipped pen wich is used to clean up poor contact areas on boards and other electrical circuits

hope this helps if unsure get in touch with nintendo they will prob fix it for you for free go here > http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/repair/

Look down into the card slot of the DS and make sure all of the contacts are properly aligned. U might need a small screw driver to "GENTLY" put them back in place

Hi have ds lite and reads there is no ds card inserted does any body have a cure ..

One simple thing that helps sometimes is to gently blow into the hole the games go into.  This was an old trick on the original cartridge systems that worked as well.  Sometimes there's just to much dust for the system to read the cartridge!

Corupted data on Nintendo DS Lite

is it definitely "any" game? Reason is that a lot of games are now suffering from flat batteries, the symptom of which is what you're saying, corrupt save data.

The only solution is to change the battery if thats the case.

how long have you had the console for? if you havnt had it long (less than 12 months) you can get a free replacement or free repair where you got it from, one or two of the teeth where you insert your game might be damaged, see if you can get it sent back, if not local gaming repair shop, works out cheaper to get it fixed than buy a new one, for repairs usually £30-£35 new DS £99 or more, i hope you can get it sorted

When this "freeze" occurs, turn off the DS system and remove and re-insert the game cartridge several times. Turn the system back on and the game should appear. If not, repeat this procedure.

Maybe it's the game card, sometimes if it's dirty or not insirted propaly it doesn't work or freezes, try gently blowing the dust off or reinsirting it.
