You can ID the cards by seeing if the card has "V2" on the metal plate. I believe an 1800 chasis requires a V2 card.

The WIC-1T cards aren't necessarily compatible across the entire Cisco range. The card you have may be for a 2600 series (or other) but specifically won't work in your 1800 series router.

If you got a box or manual with it, they will have the router model range in it's product code.

I've seen/experienced this many times before. (usually sorting through old cards at work, where it's almost impossible to identify them)

Let us know!

Connect to cisco 1841

This is more of a business unit. It requires a serial port connection and a fair amount of CISCO networking engineering knowledge. It is command only. No GUI interface.

1841 router in rommon mode cannot install flash

Basically you will need to use TFTP to get the IOS back on. HERE is an article from Cisco that explains how to do it. I have done this before and even though it takes a while to reload the IOS (because in my case I had to use a serial connection at 9600 baud) it does work.

Garbage in Cisco 1841

There are two things that can cause this:
  1. Incorrect serial settings. The default settings are 9600 baud, stop bits of 1, and parity 0. However, it is possible that these settings were changed. Likely, the baud setting may be higher as someone may have tried to XMODEM an IOS image onto the device and wanted faster speeds.
  2. Bad connection, cable
I hope this answers your question.
