So i bought a used toshiba satellite m35 s320, the sound on it will work one moment and then i have no sound the next. it never switches when i stay on but every time i turn it on its a hit or miss(lately a lot of miss)When the sound does work it is sometime quiet and other times it will work fine. the speakers would sometimes make a high pitch noise if the volume was set too high or if my hand got close to it. oh and when the sound goes the headphone jack wont work either.
It sounds like your sound card has a short in it or it could be a driver issue try updating the driver if that dont help e-mail me at email@example.com and i will help you test to see if your sound card needs replaced it sounds like that might need to be done if your speakers and your headphone ports our giving bad sound relay

If the M35-S320 case is OK and the M35-S359 screen is OK and will fit the M35-S320 then I would swap the LCD screen lid and inverter over to the M35-S320 including the hard drive from the M35-S359. It would be less work and with luck it might boot up, if not you might be able to do a system repair, worst case, you will need to reinstall Windows. Plus you have a spare drive from the M35-S320 which you can use as an external hard drive with an USB hard drive adapter case.
you can buy the HDD in your laptop at computer shop, but check first if it is SATA or IDE...under your laptop, there are 2 screws remove that and remove the HDD and check what type of HDD you have..here is the idea, with 40pin its indicate IDE with small flat connector its SATA..remove and check and go to computer shop, they will ask you also how many GB you want...80,120,160 whatsover..buy and replace the HDD.
