Subs wont play music

I have a nitro amp 2500watts hooked up to a stock radio and 2 12's 1200watts each...when I turn my car on there is a humming sound coming from my subs. at this point my radio is turned off. when I turn my radio on the humming stops but the bass remote also turns off. how can I have my bass remote and radion be on at the same time?

I need some additional info in order to offer some help. How are the subs connected to the amp? What impedance (ohms) are they?

It sounds like the amp is detecting an overload & shutting down to keep it from self-destructing. Get back to me & we'll go from there.

    peace-out

Sounds like your RCA's are the source of your problem. Unplug your RCA's before you turn your car on. You may need to isolate your RCA's and the ground wire on the back of your head unit.

I have a couple of questions regarding my jl 500/1. the first question: i just transferred my amp/subs (subs are JL W3s) to a new vehicle, and the place i had install it switched the "high/low"...

ok..well theres a lot of question in there, lemme take a shot at it.

the hi/low switch explained: the hi/low switch tells the amp what signal voltage is being delivered to the amp...hi-power (4-15volts) or low-power(micro-volts). Your aftermarket head unit had what are called pre-outs (or preAmp outs) meaning the source signal (your music) is not amplified before being delivered to the amplifier...sooo...your amplifier setting for your aftermarket radio would be 'low' to tell the amp that the music source being sent to it is low-voltage.

Typically a manufacturers radio will not have pre-outs, they will be amplified by the radios internal amp to anywhere from 4volts on up, and you need to tell your jl audio amp that the source music being supplied is 'hi' voltage.

soo...of course...if you are sending 10volts to the amplifier and tell it that your sending micro-volts (low setting) your amp will over-amplify the signal and thus the overwhelming bass you experienced.

The 'remote' terminal is powered by a lead that is normally connected off the head unit...if it has this feature...the head unit, if a good quality one' will have a blue wire that will turn on the amp, by providing a signal to it.........if not, you can bypasss this

My amp keeps going into protect

do you have the right size ground wire, relative to your power wire? If your ground is smaller when you turn it up there is alot of power it needs an exit and if the wire is too small it travels elsewhere maybe your rca, causing your amp to protect.

Fai-3a installed, subs work speakers dont

did you cut them and splice into them. Because instead splice them all together and it should all work. or if you have a multichannel amp just hook ur factories into the amp as well.

Unwanted bass coming out of my subs

there has to be sumthn hooked up wrong bc i have had same problem with my 12' subs but it was simply a matter of my rca jacks but sense you have checked them try rewiring the speakers if that does not work then your rca module may be burned out within the amp..iso then check the amp by taking the cover off and making sure nuthn is burned on the inside.or if any wires are loose or touching.
