I am having the same problem. My (Hitachi 70VS810) television would not turn on one day & the red light (lamp light) came on. So I called out a Hitachi "Certified" Technician who checked it out & said that the lamp needed to be replaced. He said I could order it from Hitachi for around $200 or he can order & install for around $750...I ordered the lamp, installed exactly as the instructions say - made sure everything was tightened and put back how it was prior to ever opening the cover. Plugged the TV in, pushed the power button and all that happens is the 3 lights light up for about 2 seconds then the red lamp light comes on and starts blinking.

I tried that and there is no tab that sticks out. Once the cover is removed, you can see a tab that goes into this particular spot. I have tried readjusting over & over & can't get it to work... When I plug it back in I can hear a click sound as if it has been powered on, then another click (as if powered off) that is when the lamp light starts blinking.

Take the door back off and look for a safety tab somewhere on the door that will activate a small safety switch, the tab will stick out. Maybe you broke the tab off or just didnt get the door on correctly. Try that and let me know.

I tried all of the above and no luck but THEN we realized we had it plugged in to the surge protector not the battery backup. Once we plugged it in to the battery backup it powered up like a champ! Good luck!

I have a Hitachi 70 inch lcd rear projection tv (70vs810). When the tv is turned back on the screen is very blurry. We have had a problem with it over the past 6 months but it would go away after warming...

This is a well described problem with model #. Thanks for that. Now it could be a tv lamp at the end of its life if the tv lamp is around two years old. Its easy to change lamps and the procedure is explained in owner's manual. If the lamp was replaced recently or the problem stays even after changing the tv lamp, its the optical block going bad. That need professional help and you should not try to mess with it. Check out at www.fixurtvs.com These repairs could be expensive and may be wiser to go in for another TV.

The lamp is burned out, this is an easy fix. Contrary to what the "repairmen" on this site say, you can do it at home with ease. Just type your model into a search engine and order your lamp, they come with great instuctions on how to install.

My hitachi 50VS69A tv shows the picture green.

A green image is usually due to a lack of red or especially blue. the problem is becoming all too common with hitachi lcd projection sets. what happens is that one of the lenses in the optical block (or light engine) starts to burn or discolor due to overheating because of a blocked air filter causing poor air (cooling) circulation. Nothing can be done when the damage is too far gone except to replace the light engine-at acost that makes it not worth repair. if the damage is minimal than to reduce further damage the air filter should be replaced. Light engine needsto be removed in order to replace the air filter.

We bought our Hitachi 50" tv in 2004. Recently it had a blue cloud and finally the lamp went out. We replaced it after ordering the part from Hitachi. This has been only a few weeks ago. The blue cloud is...

id guess your set is like a 50v500 or 50v720 its a lcd rear projection
the blue cloud come from a warped lcd plate in the optic engine and would require replacment to correct this problem
if you have a extended warranty you would want to contact them
if not you might contact hitachi consumer affairs and ask them if there would be any assistance with this repair

Lamp and Temp light flashing

Had the same problem last week.... the lamp has gone out. It can be done by anyone with basic electronic skills....the lamp is about $100 online, more if you by it from a local repairman because he will want to do it, and of course, the quote I got was almost $300.00. I ordered lamp online for about $129 to get it to me and had brother put it in. Didn't look too difficult, so I probably could have done it but I didn't want to ruin my tv. I just posted the manual for this TV on owneriq.com that tells how to do it.

I had this same problem over the summer, I had my TV for two years before it went out. You need a new lamp. The lamp is not hard to replace on your own. However, you MUST make sure that you do not touch the lamp (the bulb part) in anyway. If you do your new lamp will not last as long. You can order the lamps online. They range anywhere from 150-300 dollars online. However, I found a TV repair company in my city that only charged me 100.00 for the lamp and they told me If I took out the box that holds the lamp they would replace the lamp for me. They also gave me a 1 yr warrantee on the lamp. All I had to do was un-screw the box from the back of the TV take the box to the TV repair company and I placed the box back into my TV. My TV works. While going through this process, I learned that these lamps go out all the time, the more you watch the TV the more often you'll replace the lamp. I was told from the repair company it could be as often as every year. The Lamp does have MURCURY in it so if you replace the lamp on your own be careful and have it recycled. If you live in SLC UT the repair company I went though was Village TV Sales and Service.

Hitachi 55VG825 rear proj television blinking light and screen doesn't light up

Refer to owners manual ! Blinking indicates the type of fault that is occuring on all your tv sets. example : power light on red - indicator light beside it green but blinks rapidly for half a second rapidly then shuts off. This refers to a faulty lamp or a lamp that is near its expiration. Read your manuals if indicators refer to easy repair sweet, but if it says call tech then bummer...
