If powercycle and cleaning copper contacts does not help, you can reset the printer. Try and use the steps here How to Reset the HP PhotoSmart C4200 All-in-One Printer Series. It is important to know the status of the printer if the hardware is still working fine. Also, please use a genuine cartridge as it may cause such issues.

1. Make sure that you removed the tape covering the metal contacts on the print cartridges.
2. Clean those contacts with a cotton swab and distilled, filtered or bottled water. Tap water may damage. Do not touch with curious fingers. Allow to dry.
3. Reinsert, Reset printer.
