Question about Air & Gas Compressors
I bought a used 25 gallon Craftsman Compressor, upright, model 919.165230. It was not working when I bought it, the previous owner had accidentally knocked it over and smashed the start / run capacitors on the back of the motor. Tried starting it up when I bought it, it wouldnt quite kick over, and would blow the breaker.
After much research, I found the correct values for the start / run capacitors (start: 30uf, 370VAC. run: 378-454uf, 125VAC)
The wiring is not exactly cut and dry. I tried what looked to be logical, with the start cap, and got it running okay, but I am no certain i have it wired correctly, and dont want to blow $27 worth of brand new capacitors!
Here's what's coming out of the back of the motor (GE motor):
This is besides the power cord to the motor.
coming from the left side of the motor windings:
Orange, Blue, Brown wires. they all go into a ''Klixon CET36SX'', which may have been a breaker or shut-off switch, not sure.
Red, Red (bound together on one push-on terminal)
Black, Black (separate terminals)
If anyone has this or a similar compressor, and can help me make sense of how the capacitors should be wired in, Please let me know!!
Hey joe if the motor starts up and runs you have wired it correctly if the capacitors werent correct it would not start up and go into run position
