Oh, I'm so sorry.... A 2Wire doesn't connect to laptops through the modem port. :-p

What type of modem is it?

Are you certain that you're using NetZero? Because that modem is designed for DSL, specifically for use with AT&T DSL services.

  • andrewimeson May 11, 2010

First try reseting the modem and router (in other words unplugg and then plug back in). Also are you using dialup? If you are using dialup than you are pretty much stuck.

1st step is to call netzero and as per the setup get it configured.

2nd on your comp go to control panel-network connections- delete all the connections listed their- insert the disc provided with router- run the setup and install it- then connect the usb of router and see if it works..

Clarify ur setup more for more help

Well that card you have which you got along with your computer is a wireless adaptor, not a router which would come with it's utility, try that utility to connect your wireless, for any further clarification contact me with the model name and no. of your adaptor and information about your netgear router and modem as well.

Hello, my husband laptop requests the following statement each time he attempts to log on to his system. Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you on to the network SandyM. We have searched FixYa...

You need to configure the router, both the "wired" and the "wireless" interfaces inside of it.
For the wireless interface:
* pick an SSID ('SandyM')
* pick an encryption-level -- use 'WPA', because 'WEP' is too easy to "hack"
* pick a password for your network.

Wireless signal is not lighting up and not getting a signal on my laptop, so I am unable to get on the internet

type 192.168.2.1 in Internet explorer and login to the router setup page..if it asks for a password leave it blank and click submit..on the left side of the page you can see an option called wireless.. below that "channel and ssid"...click on that and go and check whether the wireless mode is "on"...in belkin routers the wireless light willnot litup if the wireless switch in laptop is not turned on...so make sure the wireless switch in the laptop is turned on....
try this it ll work... and dont make any other changes in router setup page....

I have recently bought a Belkin Wireless Router and I am unable to connect to the Internet on my laptop. What do I need to do to connect my laptop to the internet using the Belkin Wireless router?

your Internet modem or router needs to be connected to the Belkin router's WAN port with an ethernet cable. You'll then need to configure the belkin's wireless settings, it's usually a very easy "follow the prompts" kind of setup.

My HP laptop won't connect to my NETGEAR WGR614v7 router

What is your operating system (Vista/XP, older Windows)? Have you turned on the router's wireless router radio from the computer that is connecting? (Login to the router's setup page at 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 (depending on the router) and go to Advanced menu and click Wireless Settings.) While you are there, enable the SSID Broadcast (another checkbox hust below the one for Wireless Router Radio). Now check if your laptop can see the router.

Additional FAQs that might be helpful are at http://kb.netgear.com/app/products/model/a_id/2589. That page has a link to setting up XP for wireless networking as well.

Used to be able to connect using WRT310N

You should call Linksys tech support now. The router needs to be configured manually. The tech that you hired maybe not familiar on how to configure the Linksys router.

Router not connecting to internet modem

This is a tuff router.  I bought it myself hoping for good things, and spent a good two days actually getting the thing to work.

I got mine to work by plugging it into the modem, the laptop I was setting it up with, etc, and then running it all. I would just suggest trying to reinstall it again with everything plugged in from the get go, and then hope for the best.... sorry I cant help more.

Unable to install Netgear wireless router

This does not seem to be a problem with your router, rather with the network adapter in your laptop.
  1. Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Network adapters.
  2. Click the "+" sign to make it "-".
  3. What is listed? DO you see your wireless network adapter? If you see a yellow "!" or a red "x", that means it is not properly installed. Try to reinstall the driver.
If you need help with that, let me know. In that case I would need to know make and model of your computer.

Also: you don't have to install any software to connect to your router. This software is simply a help to setup the router. You can always type "www.routerlogin.com" in the address bar of your web browser and manage your router from there.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.
