Ipod nano hard drive frozen?

I have a first gen ipod nano (Although a similar problem happend to my 2nd gen nano too) the ipod freezes very frequently. it ALWAYS freezes whenever the ipod is bumped or shaken the tiniest bit. im assuming there is a problem with the hard drive freezing up or something. ive restored the ipod and all that stuff, but is there any way to fix the hard drive itself without it being replaced

Hi!

If its under warranty then please get it replaced or buy an extended warranty(if its warranty is about to expire). I am sorry but there is no other way to get it fixed as this is not a software issue.

Please revert for any clarifications

Thanks
Rylee

Ipod nano 2nd gen

It sound likes your ipod is having a memory problem. Try restoring the ipod you will use all the music on it so you may want to back it up first. Restore the ipod using itunes then look for any updates add music and try it again in your car. If it does not work then your ipod will need to be repaired.

Info

I have received a IPod Nano 2 GB Silver as a gift. How do I find if it is a 1st Gen or 2nd Gen. Model number is A1199 and Part Number is MA477ZT/A. The pack looks like similar to one in Apple Store website (http://a248.e.akamai.net/7/248/8352/...quirements.jpg).

Any one has picture of the 1st Gen Nano package.Look here. Yours will be second gen - first gen only came in black or white.

thanks regards JAN_yuanjia please rate it

Menu button of iPod nano (2nd gen) not working

One option is to take the iPod into an Apple retail store Genius Bar and have a technician look at it, and if it is still under warranty, they can replace the iPod for you if it is not fixable. If its not under warranty, Apple doesn't replace batteries, but you can find replacement batteries  online, and depending on where you live you can probably find a shop that will install it for you if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself. I don't believe Best Buy replaces batteries though.

Frozen iPod Nano

Press and hold the center button while holding down the menu button. This will reboot your Ipod. Check your IPod cable to see if its shorted. If might have transferred a song and crash in the middle of the transfer.
