Question about Kenmore 73932 Gas Dryer

Kenmore dryer buzzes but does not run

My Kenmore series 90 model number 76902690 will not run. When attempting to run a cycle the dryer will buzz only, like at the end of a cycle, but never actually turns on.

MrMark, Thank you for your reply.  The dryer does not run at all.  When pushing the start button all I get is a "end of cycle buzzer.  The buzzer sounds for as long as you hold the start button in.  I have been able to manually rotate the drum.  I have not checked the hose to see if it is clogged.

I had just dried a load and it finished the cycle (or I thought) and when I went to put it on for a few more minutes all it would do is buzz!

You could have any one of several problems with that gas dryer -

Turn dryer on.
Go out to where dryer duct exits house.
Feel the amount and strength of air blast coming from vent.
Air blast should be strong and cover the full face of the vent.

If not, check that dryer hose is not crushed/collapsed behind dryer as it is pushed back into position.
Clear any restrictions in the vent pipe.
Clean lint screen.
Check that there is no restriction where air is pumped into or discharges from the dryer drum on the inside.
If you are able to, check to see if you can see the pilot ignitor lighting.

Reply back your findings for further instruction or information.

Sounds like the door switch has failed.

Do you know how to troubleshoot electrical circuits? I can guide you. Or, you can just go get a new switch and install it.

I'm pretty confident we've hit the problem. Reply back and I can give you some ideas of what to do.

We have a 80 series elec. dryer, today when the end of cycle buzzer sounded, when door was closed again...buzzer continues to buzz. I can't find a part number, if the end of cycle buzzer needs replacing. ...

Push the timer to a definate off position. Close the door. If it buzzes then more than likely you are getting power from the timer which could mean short in the timer. If you have the model # the parts places can easily find your parts.

Buzzing sound

This could be caused by vibration of the element coil supports (ceramic pieces that hold the element) as the machine is running. It could be intermittent due to the expansion and contraction of the coils when heating up and cooling down. See if moving the dryer while it's "buzzing" makes any difference in the sound.
If this is the case, you can replace the heating element or try re-leveling the machine. As a quick fix, tweaking the coil or supports is also possible but I wouldn't recommend this unless you feel comfortable doing so or you have experience.

Signal

Kenmore 70 series. Model/Stock 66702692 Serial MG2402832

Cycle Signal works but then won't shut off until I open up the dryer door - it just keeps buzzing for hours. Also the dryer will turn on if I close the door ( and arrow is within a number and not on off) without pressing the start button. So if door is closed - the dryer will run or buzz (depending on arrow). How do I fix this?

Thank you
