Hello Cassandra, It sounds like you are having phantom paper jams. When the printer starts a print job and tries to pull a piece of paper but can't grab it the printer thinks there is a jam but there really is not. If the paper pickup rollers are worn down they are not able to grab the paper correctly to feed it into the printer which causes this type of error. The rollers are considered user installable and come in a kit with the rollers and the paper separation pad which keeps more than one paper from being pickup up at the same time. Installing the paper feed kit should clear up your paper feed problems. The paper feed kit is available here: http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=342 I hope this helps. BuddyMc
That type of problem is called a phantom paper jam and is caused by the printer not picking up the paper like it should. When the print job is sent to the printer the pickup rollers turn and should grab the top sheet of paper and feed it into the printer. When the rollers get worn down and slick they can not grab the paper right so you get the error message. When you retry the rollers may be able to grab the paper and the job goes through. To correct this intermittent problem you will need to replace the pickup rollers and separation pads. This is easy to do for the end user no need to send the printer in for service. Check the rollers that pick up the paper. Make sure they're both clean. If necessary, take a cloth dampened with alcohol and clean all of the pickup rollers. They occasionally get paper dust on them and don't pick up the paper right.
Possible cause: The eject rollers get too slippery because of paper dust and other foreign matter. Recommendation: Clean the eject rollers with a paper towel dampened with water. A second cleaning may be necessary. The easiest way to do this (without disassembling the machine for full access to the rollers) is to hold the dampened paper towel against the rollers and make a blank print. Clean the rollers as they turn and remove the paper towel as the paper ejects. Repeat as necessary. Now is a good time to also clean the paper pick up roller and feed rollers to prevent feeding problems.
Clearing a paper jam from the rear door
Follow the steps below to clear a paper jam through the rear door.
Press in the tab on the left side of the rear door to release the door. Remove the door by pulling it away from the unit.
Figure 1: Removing the rear door
Gently pull the paper out of the rollers.
If the paper tears when you are removing it from the rollers, check the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper that might be remaining inside the device. If you do not remove all of the pieces of paper from the unit, more paper jams are likely to occur.
Replace the rear door. Gently push the door forward until it snaps into place.
Press Cancel to continue the current job.
Clearing a paper jam from the front door
If necessary, pull the input tray down to open it. Then, lower the print cartridge door.
Figure 2: Lowering the print cartridge door
Gently pull the paper out of the rollers.
If the paper tears when you are removing it from the rollers, check the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper that might be remaining inside the device. If you do not remove all the pieces of paper from the unit, more paper jams are likely to occur.
Close the print cartridge door.

Press Start Copy Black or Start Copy Color to continue the current job.
The samsung printer have three paper jam sensors. First (paper jam 0) after the feed rollers. Second (paper jam 1) at the left of the feed rollers and third (paper jam 2) at the fuser unit where it is hot. You can see the actuator between the two white rollers. Paper jam 2 is mainly cause by the scrappers out of position on the side of the upper heat rollers. You will have to clean it and put it back into position.
the most common problem for a paper jam in tray 2 is that either the pick up rollers and separation pads are worn or that there is something stuck to the rollers that transfer the paper up through to trat 1.(most commonly from if people have been printing on stickers/labels) just eyeball it to see if anything looks to be stook and try wiping it off. DO NOT SCRATCH IT OFF as this will only make things worse!!!
There are several things that can cause a paper jam error, even though there is no paper stuck. The most common is that the paper pickup rollers are worn or dirty, and can't grab paper. Even though there is no paper jammed in the machine, it will show the error message. The solution is to clean the roller with alcohol and a lint-free cloth (don't use paper towels). If the roller is very worn, you will need to replace it.
