The battery is located on the motherboard. It looks like a little watch battery, round. Take it out, what 5 minutes, then put back in. That will clear the BIOS password.

Don't forget to rate this solution.

I have a problem is that I forgot in my lap top hp compaq nx7300 the password to quit the BIOS

The simplest way to remove a BIOS password is to simply remove the CMOS battery. If we pull out this battery, the computer will forget alot of its hardware settings, including its BIOS password.
This should not be performed on Laptops if you are not experienced working with laptop hardware.

Anyway, open up the computer case using a screw driver and locate the flat, circular and metallic CMOS battery. It should look something like this : http://pctechnotes.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/remove-battery.jpg

Some computers have this part standing upright. Once you have located it, observe how the latches are holding it.

Make sure to power down the computer, unplug the power cables and unplug any USB devices if they are powered. The computer must not be able to get power from anywhere for this to work. Take out the CMOS battery and wait 10 - 25 minutes before putting it back in.

Plug everything back in, power up the computer and enter the BIOS again. If everything went well there should be no more password. In some cases, if you get weird error messages during bootup now, you will need to goto "Load BIOS Defaults" in BIOS and save the changes to fix them.

How do i reset the password or even get into it if i forgot the password? I dont care about wiping out any data just wanna use the bloody thing

Hello sir, hi, relax, the password is being hold by the BIOS on your PC, remove the power, and the BIOS setup will go back to factory settings including the reset of your password. Just locate the battery of your BIOS setup, the small thin flat round thing on your laptop. remove the battery and turm on your PC, goto bios and set your bios again, replace the battery and thats it.

Forgot password

Ok ive found out, there are two ways 2 do it 1u just need to take out the battery, and Press the on/off button for 5seconds, the 2nd is more drastic u need to dissasemble all parts and take off the small battery(its even in PCs) and hold iit for ten minutes, then its going to be ok (ive did the second way, because the first way works only on some notebooks)
or

BIOS passwords can be reset in two ways,
1. using software 2. using hardware.

I would first try resetting using software, here are two software's to reset or retieive BIOS passwords.

!BIOS - is a PC BIOS toolkit offering password removal/decrypt and BIOS settings modification/backup/restore.

CmosPwd - Cmos password recovery tools 4.8

Please let us know if it works.
