I have a 1998 ford f-150 and my truck wont start.

If you had said the radio did not work, I would say it was the key switch or a large fuse or fuseable link.
But the radio is powered thru the key switch.
The problem could still be the key switch or a major fuse, I would check all of the fuses then power at the key switch.
Also check the ground connections.

Make sure the key is good. If you have two keys try the other one and see if it starts. For some reason the computer is not reading the chip in the key. The keys might need to be reprogrammed.

Battery could be not holding a consistent charge. If not, Voltage regulator, starter motor or starter solenoid need replacing....Bad wire connections to all 3 also possible. Voltage regulator should be least expensive to try through process of elimination

Radio could be wired wrong. Check the constant and accy power on the radio with a multimeter and make sure you are getting 12V on the constant and getting 12V on the accy only when the car is in accy or on. Also make sure the wire harness is properly wired. This can happen often if the radio constant and accy power wires are wired in reverse.
