Question about Denon D-M51DVS System

Unit automatically switches off

In the process of playing a DVD my Denon D-M51DVS system automatically stops playing the DVD and switches to stand-by mode (flashing orange light) The time between turning the machine on and it turning itself off seems to shorten as it continues to play the DVD and thus the machine gets hotter. I have tried to make sure the machine has enough space around it in case overheating is the cause of the shut down problem but to no avail I have experienced the same problem. However, my unit shuts off not just with the DVD player, but with all the functions (e.g. tuner, aux) used. When I increase the volume the system automatically shut off to stand-by mode.

Unit has problem in Amplifier Output area and due to over current drain it gets hot and thermal protection circuit shut it down for safety reason.

Qualified tech will check and test why unit get hot and what parts are consuming more then required current causing heat issue.

Try using your tv and dvd on a diffrent socket. Maybe the socket is bad.

SOURCE: unit automatically switches off

Maybe all you need is to dust off the DVD player's pickup. I have had this happen several times with several players. After dusting the pickup, those players are still in service.

I bought my first RTD215 2 years ago but the dvd player got stuckand wont open nor play... I bought another unit same model and after 8 months the same thing happened.. the dvd player got stuck again but...

If you really like the unit (disregarding the DVD player issues), maybe you could buy a GOOD stand-alone DVD or BluRay player and be ready for an upgrade in the electronics when the bug bites.

I cannot play NTSC DVD's on my Bose system

thats because your region is for PAL-SECAM. Your unit cannot recognize this format unless it has been programmed to automatically play NTSC & PAL-SECAM.. Browse the menu and try switching to NTSC format. hope this helps ;-)

Hold down "2" on the remote simultaneous to "stop" on the receiver. In a couple of seconds you will see something appear on the display. OPO-63? Anyway, repeat the process again when you see that. The system will reset. This will also take care of the inability to switch to AUX or Ipod.

Region

Remove all power from the unit. Let it sit a few minuets. Plug it back into the wall outlet. This should resolve the problem.
Put the dvd into the unit that you were having problems with, and try and play it. If it works - everything is ok. If not - try repeating the process 2 to 3 more times. What is going on here is the Unit automatically assigned a regional list in its memory. Sometimes this happens during an AC power surge (noise) on the line. This can corrupt the macienes internal memory. Bypulling the plug you allow the internal circuitry (typically some capacitors) to discharge. After this the unit will re-set & the error will go away.

Theis is a known problem by Denon, you need to get a "patch" by denon to fix the problem. If you hook up to the other video out sources there is no problem (but no HD either)
