Question about HP dc7600 Convertible Minitower PC Desktop

Sonic digitalmedia plus V7 does not recognize cd drive and won't burn DVD I could not find any current information. According to the Roxio website, trhis is a legacy product and you must upgrade. Not good for OEM owners in need of a reload. I tried removing the DLA component as suggested in some support resources... also tried updating the PX Engine. Neither solved my problem. I need to use my burner and the software that came with my PC. If I need to 'buy' something to do so.... I am going to go to Nero!

    I found no files with the name Sonic digitalmedia plus v7... nothing with Sonic digitalmedia. The product I am trying to reinstall in ROXIO Digitalmedia Plus.

    I am dissappointed in Roxio for hte lack of support, for sure. I am at utorrent and giving that a shot. Found some other versions of Roxio. Frankly, if I did not already own this software, I would not go this route and would consider a Roxio product. My system is barely 3 years old, and HP. I should be able to get support, at least updates, for the product that came OEM.

    I am gonna keep after this. But I can tell you right now... this experience and the reviews I am reading for the latest two versions... Roxio is way down on my list of considerations!!!

1. It could be the software you might have to reinstall
2. If you already have a copy of Sonic digitalmedia plus V7 on your computer, reinstall that program.
3. If you don't have a copy of the program, Go here to: www.thepiratebay.org and go to the letter box and type in: Sonic digitalmedia plus V7. Press enter and there will be torrents for that program.

*NOTE: You will need Utorrent @ www.utorrent.com and download stable version and once that is done, open it on the Right Bottom where the icons are and double-click the icon "U" and that will open it. Once opened, go to the Top Left there are icons and you will see like a Note and a Plus on it together. Open that and locate and double click the torrent where ever you downloaded the torrent and there will be a name of the file like this: (The X's are the file name (Torrent) )

xxx-xxx-x-xx-x-xxx-xxx

NOTE TO: THEPIRATEBAY.ORG IS NOT ILLEGAL. ITS 100% FREE.

You dont have to do this if you have a back-up of the Sonic V7 or switching to better burners.
If you do want to do this and you have problems doing it, Contact me @ darrel_grn@hotmail.com

Is the computer still under its warrentee?
if so, you are limited to what you can do. if you open the case, its voided.
If its out of warentee, remove the burner from the computer and reboot.Find all data/ folders related to the burner in the search option and delete it.reinstall the burner and reboot. Go get thew software updates and it should work.
2nd option: Go to control panel and system and then to advanced tab and then to device manager. Look for any yellow check marks. Fix those.

My Sonic DigitalMedia LE v7 doesn't read recorded CD any more.

Chances are the hardware is damaged and will need to be replaced. This happens over time to eye sensors, and you can replace the eye in it but it's just cheaper to buy a new 10 dollar CD/DVD Burner/Reader from new egg.

I hope this helps.

Problems burning a cd with Sonic DigitalMedia Plus v7, I am on an HP notebook running XP

Try different software. I use CDBunerXP with no problems. It's free. Just don't install any extras (add-on programs) they include.

You should let it burn with no other activity during the process.

The windows might be corrupted. You could try editing the windows registry. here are the steps:

In order to delete upper and lower filters you're going to have to edit the registry. The usual cautions apply. If the registry is not edited properly your whole system can crash.

1) Close all open programs
2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter
3) Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
* SYSTEM
* CurrentControlSet
* Control
* Class
* {4D36E965-E325-11CE-
BFC1-08002BE10318}

4) This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

* UpperFilters
* LowerFilters
* UpperFilters.bak
* LowerFilters.bak

5) If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete
6) After deleting the keys, close the Registry Editor
7) Reboot your computer
8) Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

last option, you could try installing imgburn. here's the download link: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

If nothing happens, your dvd drive is bad.

Good Luck,

Ryan

Try uninstalling Roxio and the Sonic drives and run Fixit. Then reboot and install Roxio first then the Sonic driver.
If this doesn't work uninstall again as previously, install Roxio and check the CD/DVD if necessary run Fixit then install Sonic driver.

DVD's won't play in the dvd player

I had a problem when making back-up copies of my dvd movies. I was using the latest version of Nero and when I played them in my DVD Player the movie just jumped all over the place. It didn't play in order of chapters. I then tried DigitalMedia Plus V7 from Sonic that came with my laptop and they play just fine. If you are downloading stuff from the net that is in avi, divx, or xvid format your dvd player probably can't play those formats.

Lite-on DVDRW SHW-160p65 DVD-RW drive

Where are you looking to recognize the disks? if it is in my computer in Windows it would most likely be because the Roxio software was what was recognizing the disks. generally Windows does not do a very good job of recognizing blank disks. I would look at the disk information in your current CD burning software and see what that says.
