My Tascam DR-1 digital recorder will not turn on

I have tried a newly charged battery, and connected a Tascam PS-P520 power supply and it will not turn on. I have tripped the reset button several differebt times (through the hole) on the rear of the unit and still the screen will do nothing but light up while I hold the on button. No information comes up on the screen. This unit worked fine for 12 months.

SOURCE: Tascam dr-1 recording problem

There is a "PB Control" button. I had the same problem. You've inadvertently told it to change the speed or something on playback. Make sure that none of the indicators at the top of the screen are active (i.e., white letters on black background). Press the PB Control button to toggle it on/off. Also, any files transferred to a computer will not be affected.

SOURCE: my tascam mp-gt1 won't recharge - device error

I had the same problem. After trying to turn it on many many times over weeks, I gave up. A few months later I tried it again, and same "Device Error" only. Then I decided to just mess around with it. So I held the power button on with my thumbnail while I pushed all the other buttons. I held in the MENU button for at least five seconds. Held in the ENTER button at least 5 seconds.... multiple buttons. These didn't seem to work, I don't think. but then decided to turn on the power button using the edge of my desk while several fingers pushed multiple other buttons.
To my great shock, all of a sudden, the bloody thing turned on like it's supposed to, logged into a Sugar Ray song I was learning awhile back, apparently. Go figure. After that, it turned on correctly twice so far.
So, heheh, I have no idea what the cure was. Just screw around with holding in multiple buttons while the power is on, I guess.

SOURCE: DR-1 MAC FINDER does not see it!

I had a similar problem. What i did was to replace the tascam provided cable with another one (similar) from Iriver t30. works wonders. found out that the original cable couldnt plugged in properly to tascam although it did recharge the unit.

Hope that helps.

Power issue

The Acer TravelMate 3000 is a laptop intended for business travellers who need the extra muscle of a fast processor and dual batteries. With mobile computers, it is very important to have not only a good rechargeable battery, but a solid power supply that needs very little maintenance to be able to keep operating. Losing a power supply or battery on a long trip can be extremely inconvenient, and there are several actions you can do to troubleshoot and prevent that situation.

Power Supply
The power supply (PS) is generally a solid piece of hardware not prone to damage or breakdown. The most common causes when a laptop is not receiving enough power from the PS is when one or more of the connections (wall, adapter or pc) gets loose. If your laptop informs you that it is not recieving enough power (or any) from the PS, make sure to manually inspect it to ensure the connections are solidly together and plugged in. While inspecting the cord, look for crimps or exposed wires that indicate serious damage. Crimps can typically be straightened out, but if there is physical damage to the cord, it must be replaced. Additionally you can check the adapter, the rectangular box, to see if it is overheating. As a precaution against fire, there are circuit breakers inside the adapter that will trip if the adapter begins to overheat. Normally, these circuits require you to unplug the power cables from the adapter, cord and wall before reassembling them in order to reset. On rare occasions, the circuit breaker will fail to trip and actually burn out from the inside; this requires replacing the entire PS.

The most common reason for power troubles on the Acer 3000 TravelMate, as well as most laptops, is a faulty battery. Batteries have a limited lifespan, and their ability to store a charge gradually reduces over time. Excessive use and overheating rapidly drain the battery and can often prematurely kill the battery. If you are having problems with a new battery or laptop charging or storing a charge, remove the battery and inspect it for physical damage. When inspecting the battery, pay careful attention for liquid, burn marks or pitting. If you discover any of these, carefully clean the battery and its connectors (copper ends) with a dry cloth. Once clean, reattach the battery and plug the PS back in to the laptop and wall. When possible, you should always use the PS instead of relying on the battery. This will prolong the battery's life.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thanks.

I need a replacement power supply/adaptor for the US-428. I need the PS-P428 adaptor. Can you please help me find one?

Seller solenoidal on Ebay has the 7.5 volt a/c transformer that the Tascam US-428 requires. If the plug is wrong, cut off the old one and splice it on. No need to worry about polarity with a/c

What is the voltage of the tascam ps-p428

7.5 volts ac. These little boxes are hard to come by, but the seller solenoidal has them on ebay for $12.95. I just ordered one for my Tascam.

I cant charge my dr1 with tha ac adapter. when is connected the charge indicator is off what can i do?

Lean on the power button while it's connected. If no screen appears, do the same while connected to a usb port. It will show if it's charging on the screen. If no display, lean on the power button for 10 seconds while it's plugged in. Still nothing? Buy another for $160 used but get the model that also runs on AC. Also, get a protective case. I'm second guessing that your tascam took a hit or you're using the wrong supply maybe? I thought mine was dead once then I just kept on the power button for about 10 seconds and it came back to life from a deep hibernation.
.I'm going to buy a second battery so I can run it down all the way & charge it back up all the way. The usb charge is healthier for your unit. (Tascam, that is.).
Good luck

Tascam 424 portastudio mkII power supply

My mistake this is a 424 mkIII not a mkII. Sorry for the typo. Great news is I opened the power supply case and un-soldered the fuse. cleaned it off with tarn-x and behold 3 amps 250 volts. Definatly worth the $1.00 im gonna have to pay for that. As for the **** that was gonna charge me a $100 bucks. There is a reason you are doing that to people. And one day your services will be obsolete.

Powering up!

Ok often the Battery will take a Looonnnggg time to charge up especially if real flat... Try leaving it overnight.. and see how ya go after it has been charging all night at least 12hours anyway... else try a replacement Battery/Power supply.. Also to test take Batt out, and connect up to the Wall PSU see if that goes if it does then it is just ya Batt.. else it's either ya Power Supply or Motherboard .. Good Luck
