Some more info would be useful...
HP laptop s have a key combo to switch the display between internal and external - have you tried this?
On my HP laptop it is Fn and F4. This should toggle between internal only, external only and internal/external both on.

Hi

Ok, just need to enable the extra output and you will get picture on the tv.

Try this first
right click on desktop and select properties then follow the video to enable the extra display. If this doesn't solve the problem let me know and there are other things we can try.

Could be the pixal setting on the tower is too high for the TV? Can you change the video card settings to the TV Pixal rating? You could have a bad video card. Good luck.

Hey iJust bought a 42 inch Phillips lcd tv And i am trying to attatch my lToshiba E100 Satllite lap top to it via the HDMI ports on both the tv and laptop but nothing is happening

When you have the tv connected and both on, Switch the TV to the HDMI feed then press the [FN] key and hold and start pressing the [F4] key counting to 10 between presses. You have to tell the computer bios to activate the external port and send video signal to that port.

Computer was working fine we powered it up and the screen is white nothing else happens

What happens if you connect an external monitor to the VGA port on the laptop? Is the output "white", or is it what you expect?

If your LCD shows 100% white, then the LCD is not getting the correct "signals" from the computer's video-card.

Take your laptop to a qualified technician, for trouble-shooting.

Powers up screen lights up with vertical lines of different colors. NO desktop. DVD indicator lit up on keyboard along with Play, Rev and FF indictors, put a movie in and it wont play that either the drive...

Most likely you have had an lcd panel failure. The only way to tell for sure is either hook the laptop up to a tv or an external monitor, if the video chip is good it will send the signal to the external monitor and you can run the computer that way. If you do get a signal on the external, then you need to change out the lcd panel. As far as the dvd, you probably just cannot see that everything is working because the panel has failed.

Pc to tv problem

The most common problem is that the tv dont understand the s-video signal. You can try to change the signal input on the tv to s-video, but it will only work if your tv support's it. I have a s-video to scart but I dont get any collours because my tv can't understand the signal. My solution tip for you are: Get a tv that you are shure can understand the s-video signal.

dont have to change any...connect s-video lead and press fn + the f key that has an icon of monitor on it (little square box)
for instance mine is f2 so I would press fn +f2 (not fn then f2 ,,fn and f2 together)
for most hp the f key is f4...
