They are definitely not a requirement but there is a stronger likelihood that she could get hit in the face because it is a sport very similar to volleyball. If she regularly wears contacts, I do recommend that she gets goggles because you don't want the contact to get hit and then not be able to remove it.
It is not a requirement. Guys on my team wear them and I don't but I can't see any difference between them. If you ask me, they are a waste of money. Most professional handball players don't wear them. They are just an excessive expense.

Every point garnered in handball is worth one point, regardless of where on the court it was shot from. In basketball, if you stand behind the three point line, your shot counts 3 times. In handball, no such distinction is made. Every shot is worth one point which ends up leaving the scores per game around 20 to 30 points.
