Question about Lexmark X5470 All-In-One InkJet Printer

My printer is not printing Lexmark 5400 series

My computer is communicating with the printer but it won't print. I've tyed restarting the computer,Unpluging and printer and unpluged the USB and connecting it back but it still won't work. What shoul I do next? i need a software cd to program mi printer to mi laptop
Have exactly the same problem...worked fine with my old Apple- got a new one, downloaded all software, drivers, etc...computer in communicating with the printer, the printer even turns on, but will NOT print- so what do I do???
And how do I get an answer here????

DO NOT use the Windows 7 Lexmark Driver for the 5400 series on the model X5470 all-in-one! I just assembled a new Win 7 computer and could not get the obvious Win7 64 bit driver to work. I called Lexmark tech support several times, and the third time they conceded that you can't use it. You have to use THIS ONE!
CJS5400en.exe (just for the X5400). Make sure you UNINSTALL COMPLETELY any previous Lexmark printer driver and check the hard drive for any vestiges of previous installations BEFORE installing the new driver...and do NOT use the 'cleaning utility' file that is on the Lexmark site for Win 7 - to clean all bits of former installations first...According to tech support, it doesn't work on Win 7!! I told the tech person that the driver site needs to be more specific on which models use which drivers...he agreed.

Unplug printer, Unistall all printer software also drivers, then go http://support.lexmark.com/perl/support/support.cgi

Sellect the printer u use download mac drivers depending your mac os series. then install printer if it ask you to connect usb connect it. after installing try to print if its not printing make printhead deep clean.

First I would try to copy any document without useing the computer, just use the copy function on your lexmark unit. If it does work try going into the control panel on your computer, got add remove programs and get rid of the lexmark program. Try to reinstall it from the disc. If it still does'nt work it is one of two things, either the usb cable is bad or your cd rom is not reading properly. you can have your computer manufacturer check the cd rom remotely from an online chat which is in the help and support tab when you click on the start tab at the bottom left of your computer.

I had to go thru everything and uninstalled anything that said "Lexmark"---then got my directions out that I used to hook the printer up when it was new and follwed them..not the users guide , this was a sheet of instructions to hook it up the first time...and after playing with this printer and trying all kinds of things for over a month it now works...I think i read somewhere that you could find the instructiion sheet at the web site
1 uninstall everything lexmark
2turn off anti virus
3 unplug usb cord & power cord
4 plug in power cord
5plug in phone line and set up fax info
6 turn on computer and put in cd
7 click Install / continue
8 let run / it will tell you when to hook up usb cord
9 let it install and print test page
10 if test page prints you are home free

In the laptop there will be two sockets where you can insert the usb wire.try inserting the usb wire in another socket and check out is it printing.also it can happen if the usb wire is faulty.replace the $2 usb wire and check out with new usb wire.also it happens if the usb driver in the laptop is malfunctioned.u will need to reload the usb drivers of the laptop it that case.

driver finder enter your model? and you will
get the downloads.

Completely uninstall the delete the printer, then install it again.

Printer shows it is printing and it just pulls paper through and nothing has printed. I have changed ink and still won't work. I've cleaned print head. It will only print black and not colored on...

My Lexmark x5495 will not print. I get the message enable bidirectional communication. I am running XP operating system. What is the solution?


Go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes > right click on the Lexmark 5400 Series print object > Properties > Lexmark 5400 Series Properties window pops up, click on Ports tab > place a check mark in Enable bidirectional support by clicking in the box beside it. Hit Apply and click Ok to save the settings. Try to print. If problem persists, disconnect the printer usb cable from computer, uninstall the software completely by clicking on Windows logo Start menu > All Programs > Lexmark 5400 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Restart pc. To reinstalI, I recommend you use the software you can download from the Lexmark website. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/cgn74X. Download and install the software. Lexmark 5400 wont print


-uninstall the software and reinstall it again and dont forget to put chek in the boxes of additional softwares., because those are the software for your scanner.

When you got this message were you trying to scan?

What I want you to do is a copy. Doing a copy will generally not require you to be hooked to the PC.

Scanning and Printing all require communication from the printer to the computer. Failure in communication can either be something on the computer, something wrong with the cable or rarely something wrong with the printer.

I'm assuming you have done the following:

1. Power off your printer and your computer.
2. Unplugged the power from the printer
3. Unplugged the USB cable from both the printer and the computer.
4. Reconnect the USB cable to the printer and the computer.
5. Plug the power back into the printer and make sure the printer is on.
6. Turn on the computer.

Those are general troubleshooting steps that can be done for any communication problem.

If you have done all of those try this:

Press and hold down the Windows key on the keyboard, and then type the letter R.
Type "devmgmt.msc" and then click OK on the Run dialog.
Find the item Universal Serial Bus controller.
Click the + sign next to the word Universal Serial Bus controller.
Do you see USB Printing Support?
Yes:
Right-click on USB Printing Support, and then click Properties.
Does the Device status say “This device is working properly.”?
Yes:
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software?
No:
Click the Troubleshoot button to try to resolve the problem.
Does the Device status now say “This device is working properly.”?
Yes:
Try your print again (might need to restart)
No:
Might have a problem with your Printing Support

No:
Might have a problem with your Printing Support

Let me know - if you have a problem with your printing support you'd really need to contact your PC MFG for help - but you can always try uninstalling the USB Printing Support and reinstalling it (only if you have your disks that came with your printer).

Printer and computer not communicating


sorry my printer is lexmark 1200 series, tried restarting,unplugging usb, power supply to printer but keeps just sayin printer not communicating with computer
