Question about Intel SVM266A VIAP4M266A (SYNTAX SVM266A VIAP4M266A) Motherboard

1 Answer

Configuration I have a problem as to which wire (connector) goes where on the motherboard. There are two (2) sets of connectors labeled +5V,-D and +D, two (2) labeled GROUND, one labeled M/B SW, one with H.D.D. LED, one with RESET SW, one with POWER LED and two with SPK. I know what they mean but can't seem to find the terminals on the board.

Hi

The wires that read +5 -d +d and ground those are USB connectors each usb connector will have 4 wires, +5 -d +d and ground so that goes to usb pins.

The sw must be power switch
The HDD led is the load light
Reset is the reset button
Power led is the front power light
SPK is the speaker / beeper.

Can you tell me the brand and model of the motherboard? They are documented in the user manual. but generally in the bottom right corner of the motherboard you have the connectors for the leds and buttons, its all written into the motherboard with small white text. but I can get clear instructions from the user manual for you.

You can look for the motherboard details between the expansion slots and between the cpu and memory.

Thanks,
Ekse

Installing an internal speaker on a Desk top pc mother board do you need to reconfigure your system.

Typically, the speaker is connected with 2 or 3 wires. The connector block should have a pin labled "SPKR" or "Speaker". From there, count three up and find a pin labeled "+5v". These two pins are typically separated by two ground pins.

So, the connection would be: spkr, gnd, gnd, +5v. The ground pins may, or may not be used depending on your design.

This is not a photo of your motherboard. Please use it as a general guide on what to look for on your motherboard. Most brand name systems will have the connector pins placef on the edge of the motherboard that is closest to where the wires coming from the power button are being routed. Pay attention to a set of pins that equal the amount of connection wires you have. When you see it, look around the pins and you will see etchings that describe which wire goes on what pin.
NOTE: Please remove the AC cord from the computer and that all keyboard, mouse, video, network cable and usb slots are disconnected and empty. Do not power the pc until you are certain you have matched the connectors to the right pins.

How do I plug the Power Button wire into the motherboard?

Printed on the MB
HD LED +1 -3
PWR LED +2 -4
RESET 5- 7+ (Why the changed order? & there's no reset button on this computer.)
PWR ON +6 -8

There are nine pins with a little triangle pointing at one and a 2 next to another.
The pins on the MB look like this:

2ndpin
. . . .
. . . . .
1st pin

Found some info on the 506GR. Unfortunately Gateway is keeping the service manual a big secret.

This will help. Thanks please keep updated. please do rate the solution positively .Thank you for using Fixya

My front USB port do not detect nothing.so i use the back USB port of the CPU.my collegue has complained that his pendrive has been damage by the front USB port.is this true?

This is only true if the wires connecting the front USB port to the motherboard are connected incorrectly.There are 2 pairs of wires for each connector: one for the +5V & -5V (power) & the other one for the signal itself. If those are not connected properly, the power connectors could be connected to the signal, in which case if a device is connected to the port it will get damaged.

To connect those connectors properly, you have to refer back to your motherboard's manual.

Hp pavilion 764c wire diagrams

Take a picture of the inside of your computer and put it up on the website with the wire connectors that need to be connected. The connecting wires should be in four groups. 1. The power supply connectors. These connectors will supply power to to all the power using components not supplied power by the motherboard itself. 2 The connections to the other components in your system like the dvd/cd player and the harddrive and floppy drive.3. The motherboard connections for the case. The power switch connector andreset switchconnector. The power led and theharddrive activity light.The USB connector and the audio connector.The fan connections like the cpu fan and other fan only connectors found on the motherboard.The external fans ( Fans that need to be connected to the power supply).Most of these connections are labeled on the motherboard. The case connectors also should be labeled for the correct connection. The best way to find the answers to this hook-up, may be to call HP pavilion with your computer make and model number,motherboard model number including revisions number. Computer made by big manufacturers tend to have may revisions and the only way to make sure your are getting a correct hook-up to the motherboard is call them for assistance.Especially if the motherboard and case labels are not present or so small that they cannot be read.Hope this helps you with your problem.

I finally found a solution, on a dead page in google cache only:
http://www.pcclub.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=27%26threadid=16567
The solution was posted by JontyBonkers.

The pins go like this:
1 2 3 4 5
_ 6 7 _ 8

1 = ground
2 = ground
3 = D1-
4 = ground
5 = D1+
6 = D2-
7 = D2+
8 = +5V

It seems that the case for those Packard-Bells had a small circuit board that divided the 5V line to both sockets.

D- are usually white, D+ - green, 5V - red, ground - black

However, brand name manufacturers often build proprietary power supplies or make up their own color coding, so I wouldn't throw out a power supply that supplies 5V where you think it should supply 3.3V. It's more likely a proprietary design than a failure.

Pulled the wires for the crts off. didn't label them correctly help

Yes the first one near the rear of the set goes to the blue crt which if you are looking in from rear will be on the far left and the middle will go to green in the middle and the 3rd or last will go to red on the right. A rule of thumb in this case is alway red on right and green is always middle crt.
