First off turn the power to the unit OFF.
On the side where the wires go in there is a small hole take a paper clip push it into the hole and the wire will be released. MAKE SURE THEIR IS NO POWER TO THE UNIT
I am not a car expert on this site but 50 years with cars has taught me some things---every vehicle I have seen with a light under the hood was activated by a plastic shaft that sticks up---hood is lifted and spring loaded shaft comes up and turns light on---should not be too hard to locate this with hood up.
At worst if you like I do not need or use this---remove the lamp/bulb under the hood so this does not run battery in vehicle down to point where it will not start---to the car experts on this site I answered this since no one else had.

Replacing the Halogen
The hood liner uses 12-volt, 20
watt halogen lamp bulbs.
Before you begin, make sure that
the range hood is turned off and
that the lamps have had sufficient
time to cool.
To replace a halogen lamp:
• Remove 2 screws from the
circular metal trim around the
• Pull the trim with the lamp
assembly attached down far
enough so that the lamp can be
pushed out of the socket clips.
• Insert the new lamp into the

and trim assembly back up into
